97.5 teased a “major station announcement” on Sunday night and it ended up being the return of the knockout tournament:

That was it? That was the announcement? I guess it’s nice for Fanatic listeners to get the opportunity to go down to South Philly and participate in this thing, but this is like your kid saying “dad watch this! dad watch this!” and you look over and they end up doing some half-assed cartwheel.

I was hoping it was something interesting, like the return of Dan “The Schwartz” Schwartzman or the Gonzo and Vai program. It could have been Mikey Miss, part three, only this time working the morning show alongside John Kincade, a modern Hannity and Colmes for our listening pleasure. Even if they had announced the return of Fanatic Fan Fest or something similar, that would have sufficed, but the knockout tournament is a niche thing that probably gets as much traction these days as 94 WIP’s “Caller of the Year” bracket, in which 64 jabronies compete for the grand prize of biggest jabroni of them all.

You wanna know what would be a “major station announcement?” Beasley going three months without laying somebody off. Now THAT would be a blockbuster! Not a single person would see that coming. Talk about blindsided.

Play the song!
