Hollywood Brown Says Jalen Hurts is “One of the Top Vertical Passers in the League”
Marquise Brown on playing with Jalen Hurts:
“I personally feel like he’s one of the top vertical passers in the league, as far as like his deep ball is great… One of the best vertical throwers in the league, and that’s attractive to a receiver. He’s putting it on the money, and on third down, when it matters, money downs, he can make it happen, however he has to do it. It don’t matter how it looks, he’s gonna make it happen.”
Acho with a dumbass shot at Hurts, which is par for the course. Maybe he didn’t see “The Dagger” that Hurts threw to DeVonta Smith in Super Bowl 59 en route to winning MVP.
We all know that Hurts is a great deep ball thrower. Since 2022, A.J. Brown is fourth and DeVonta Smith is tied for 13th in receptions of 20+ yards. They’re the only teammates to be inside of the top 15. They’re 7th and 15th in receptions of 20+ air yards as well, and when you include the postseason in the numbers, A.J. is 6th and Smitty is 10th in the latter category. Jalen has always done a good job hitting these guys over the top and on sideline go balls.
Hopefully Hollywood settles in here. If A.J. sticks around, he’s not going to get more than 40 targets this year. But he’s coming off a good season in KC and can help by taking off the top and providing some of that verticality he talks about. As long as it’s not “four verticals.” That’s the only verticality we don’t like.
