There are Almost 3,000 Comments on a Mysterious Facebook Post from Chris Sowers, Who May Be (?) Returning to Philadelphia (UPDATED)

A couple of people sent this over. It’s former Action News meteorologist Chris Sowers hinting, I think, at a Philadelphia return:

This thing has been up for maybe 3 hours (as of publication) and has nearly 3,000 replies. That’s 1,000 replies per hour. #Math

But the message doesn’t make sense. It says “so long Philly” and that has legions of middle aged white women going crazy in the comments, trying to figure out what it means.* Sowers left Action News in August of 2024 for a job at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida, wrapping up a Philly stint that began in 2011. He’s a South Jersey native, so home is here, not in Florida. But even then, we have no idea if he is coming home to work in TV again. He could be doing anything, like irreverent sports blogging or selling insurance.

We’ll have to get to the bottom of this. As you know, Philly cares deeply about meteorologists. It’s the big story on Action News. We’ll have to monitor this Facebook post and send out some text messages and figure out what the hell is going on here.

*EDIT – Okay I figured it out. If you scroll down a little bit further, like 5-6 stories, it appears as though Sowers was recently in Jersey. So he’s saying “so long Philly” meaning so long for this most recent trip, he’s returning to Florida, then moving BACK to Philly permanently. Got it. You’d need that context for today’s message to make sense.
