Who Says No to a Phillie Phanatic City Connect Jersey?

A reader named Tom sent over a couple of Phillies jersey mock ups that he made. He thinks the City Connect uniforms are “horrible” and believes that fans should submit their renderings as possible replacements:

The Phanatic jersey is dope. And we’re generally suckers for the teams supporting each other, are we not? So I could get behind the Eagles and Flyers jerseys. Those look cool. Major League Baseball has pretty strict rules about uniforms, but in a perfect and less-rigid world it would be gnarly for the Phils to come out in Flyers jerseys during the NHL postseason and then they auction ’em off for charity or something.

Not sure about you, but I only ever hear two things about the City Connect uniforms. People either like them or hate them. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered someone in the middle, like a fan who says “I don’t know, I don’t really have an opinion on those.” It seems like the haters think the blue and yellow + modern font looks gaudy compared to the more conservative Phils jerseys that they’ve always worn. The palette makes it look like a Union shirt, or a beer league softball jersey, even though these colors match the Philadelphia city flag.

Nick wrote something a few months back saying that he thinks the red uniforms should make a return, and I’d agree. The red tops with the gray pants look good. If you can only pick five jerseys, I’d go powder blue, white, cream, red, and then a new City Connect, maybe the Phanatic one that reader Tom sent over. I’d get rid of the bland and boring road grays.

But maybe a middle ground would be using a different color scheme on the City Connects. Does anybody else like these knock off red ones? I might be the only one. I think they’re dope, even if they give “McDonald’s employee” vibes. At least the base color is something the Phillies have worn before:
