Claude Giroux is Not Returning to Philadelphia, Reportedly
David Pagnotta reported last week that Claude Giroux was returning to Philadelphia as a free agent, which apparently is not true:
G is 38 years old now. He’s played the last four seasons for his hometown Senators, 327 games, and put up about 50 points in each of the last two years, playing mostly as a third-liner. He’s still got some juice as a bottom-six veteran, but looking at the depth chart, the Flyers are going to want minutes for Alex Bump, Denver Barkey, Noel Acciari, and, for now, Matvei Michkov as their bottom-six wings. Of course, we could always re-live the “is Giroux a center or a winger” conversation, and tie it into the Leo Carlsson offer sheet, but it’s N/A now if Friedge is accurate on this one, which he typically is.
So no Giroux reunion. He remains an all-time Flyers great with 1,345 regular season games, 85 playoff games, and 1,251 combined points.
