The Phillies’ Field of Dreams Uniforms are Better Than the Road Grays and Possibly the City Connects

It’s an appropriate throwback look for a throwback game, which will be played next month in Dyersville, Iowa. It’s about 35 minutes west from the bustling metropolis of Dubuque.
These uniforms pull from the designs of the 1930s and 1940s, with the block P hat, navy trim, and tilted “Phillies” written in cursive on the jersey. There’s an IBX patch on one side, because of course there is, and then on the other is a Centennial patch for the years 1839 to 1939.
This is a nice combination of classic and modern at the same time. Throwback, but not “old,” if that makes any sense. “Classic, but contemporary” I think is what the fashion people say.
They also look better than the road grays, which are among the worst uniforms in all of sport. They are easily the worst Phillies uniforms and the worst Philadelphia uniforms outside of the hideous throwbacks the Eagles wore in 2007 when Kevin Curtis went absolutely nuclear against the Lions. That was always a bummer, that a historic Birds performance was marred by some Delaware-ass looking uniforms.
These Iowa unis might also be better than the City Connects, but in all seriousness, I see a ton of kids wearing those. Adults might not like the City Connects, or might be split, but kids seem to dig them.
