Ketel Marte Should Come to Philadelphia and Receive a Standing Ovation from Jack Fritz and Philly Captain

The Phillies took out the Diamondbacks 2-1 on Monday night, but the big story on Action News was the return of Ketel Marte, who no-showed a recent game and was placed on the restricted list. He says he woke up that particular morning in some pain and basically went AWOL instead of reporting, then was later seen at a casino during his absence. It caused a big hubbub among the 25 people who care about the Arizona Diamondbacks, including the Jimmy Eat World drummer (presumably).
They booed him on his return:
Interesting hat choice! – “May the bridges I burn light the way.”
If the Arizona bridge is indeed burned, perhaps we could erect a new span that leads to Philadelphia, because the Phils could use a do-it-all switch hitter who has been to three All-Star Games. He’s not having his best season this year, obviously, but the season prior he hit .283 and got on base at a .376 clip. He’s 32 years old and in the second year of a seven-year deal that maxes out at $23.5 million in 2031, with a player option.
This is his 10th season with the D Bags and he’s probably growing tired of playing indoors in the desert. He should come join the Philadelphia Phillies and play in front of the great fans at Citizens Bank Park, who would have given him a standing ovation. They wouldn’t have booed him. It’s obvious the guy was going through something mentally, right? Yes. That’s the narrative. And emotionally intelligent Philadelphia sports fans, the same ones who recognized that Trea Turner needed a standing O, would have welcomed back Ketel Marte with arms wide open, as Creed’s Scott Stapp once said.
