Cavaliers vs. 76ers Novig Preview: NBA Trading Markets, Predictions (Oct. 22)

The Philadelphia 76ers had a successful opener with LeBron James and Jaylen Brown by spoiling a banner night for the New York Knicks. On Thursday, they’re at home to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. In our Cavaliers-76ers preview, we are eyeing our favorite prediction markets on Novig.
Cavaliers vs. 76ers Prediction Markets on Novig
| Winner | Cavaliers (42%) | 76ers (59%) |
| Spread | Cavaliers (+3.5 at 54%) | 76ers (-3.5 at 48%) |
| Total | O 236.5 points (51%) | U 236.5 points (50%) |
After beating the defending champs, it’s no surprise to see Philly favored in the home opener. Action begins from Xfinity Mobile Arena at 7 pm ET on ESPN.
Important Early-Season Matchup for the 76ers
James, Brown and Joel Embiid all played at least 33 minutes in their first matchup. I expect it to be much of the same on Thursday night as James plays in front of a Philly crowd for the first time in a Sixers uniform. Plus, he is going up against his former team.
Health is going to be a key factor for the 76ers this season. I don’t expect James and Embiid to stay at this pace throughout the season. But with a full fuel tank at the beginning of the season, it’s hard to make a prediction against this star-studded lineup.
Tyrese Maxey led the team in scoring, and he is likely going to be better from beyond the arc than he was on Tuesday night (2-9). Last year, he shot 36.7% from three-point range.
Cavaliers Back with Mitchell and Harden
It’s the first game for the Cavaliers, so we don’t have any first performances to go from. However, they are returning the star-duo of Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. Earlier this year, Harden signed a hefty contract to stay with the team.
In the 22 games these stars have shared the floor, the Cavs posted a 124.5 offensive rating, a 116.1 defensive rating, and a +8.4 net rating (+69 overall point differential) across 971 team possessions.
Jarrett Allen is listed as questionable, which would be a huge blow for the Cavs. He’ll be tasked of slowing down Joel Embiid down low. They’ve added Peyton Watson to the roster, but lost a few as well, such as Dean Wade and Dennis Schroder.
My Favorite Trades
Even though Mitchell and Harden have had success together, I’m not going against a 76ers lineup that will be playing their stars for most of the game. In the middle of the season, it may be different once the goal for Philadelphia becomes getting into the playoffs healthy.
76ers -3.5 at 48%
Instead of taking a winner on Novig, you can get a much better price by taking the spread.
Tyrese Maxey 23+ Points at 53%
As mentioned before, Maxey went 2-9 from three and still scored 28 points against the Knicks. He got up 19 shot attempts, showing absolutely zero hesitation to assert dominance over his newly acquired, Hall-of-Fame-caliber teammates
Joel Embiid 8+ Rebounds at 58%
I’m going to be paying attention to the status of Allen for rebound props. But either way, Embiid has a solid chance to go over eight rebounds after snagging 11 boards in their opener. He’s averaged 10.8 rebounds a game over his career.
