Report: Phillies President David Montgomery Underwent Successful Cancer Surgery

Ryan Lawrence with a wait, what? report on Philly.com after the Phillies sent out an email to team employees today:

Phillies team president David Montgomery had surgery to remove cancer from his right jaw, but is expected to have a full recovery, the Daily News learned Tuesday morning.

Montgomery, who turns 68 next month, underwent a surgical procedure on Monday. The surgery involved having a bone removed from his leg and into his mouth. He is expected to be hospitalized for another week.

A bone removed from his leg and [put] into his mouth? I’m sure that’s more common than it sounds… but yikes.
