Yeah, he was never going to play in All-Star Game.
The Phillies placed Shane Victorino on the 15-day DL today with a grade 1 strain in his right thumb. The move is retroactive to July 4th, when he got hurt in Toronto.
Conveniently, the Phillies waited until after Victorino was voted into the All-Star Game to place him on the DL. Coincidence? Probably not.
Look for this to become a story in 3…2… (that's a Space Shuttle tribute right there, folks).
