DeMeco Ryans, Mufasa, Reportedly Done for Year with Achilles Injury

After intercepting a tipped pass and then fumbling the ball when he experienced a non-contact injury, DeMeco Ryans is reportedly done for the year. According to Pro Football Talk, Ryans suffered an “Achilles tendon injury” on the play and will not play for the rest of the year. It would be a huge loss for the Eagles, not only losing the “quarterback of the defense” and a great locker room presence, but a linebacker who was putting together a great season.
Chip Kelly likened Ryans to Mufasa and said, “When a warrior goes down, you pick up his shield and go play in honor of him.” Unfortunately, Casey Matthews will likely be the one carrying that shield.
