John Smallwood was on Philly Sports Talk last night and posed a question to Phils reporter extraordinaire Jim Salisbury, who verbally punched Smallwood in the face:
Smallwood: Ruben is not gonna be here next year or he’s not in their plans– can they actually let him trade Cole Hamels? Can he be the guy who makes that trade? I mean why would they let him do that?
Salisbury: You know, John, I don’t mean to be a smart ass, but have you been reading the coverage? Pat Gillick is running the baseball operations, and we’ve been running that since Labor Day. Everything goes through Pat Gillick. Everything. Ruben does a lot of the leg work. He’s the GM. But Gillick makes all the final calls.
