Chip Kelly Doesn’t Get Rid of Talent, Says Chip Kelly

WHO IS THIS MAN? Is this the Chip Kelly we knew, liked, and then ran out of town?
Chip knows what his criticisms were – probably because we yelled them at him for months – but now that he’s starting over in San Francisco, he wants you to know he’s not a guy that “gets rid” of players, despite what you read, heard, or know. “Our job is acquiring talent,” Kelly told gathered media, “not getting rid of talent.” To be fair, any talent there was to get rid of fled or retired when Harbaugh left, but Chip is going at his critics head-on here, something he really didn’t do in Philly. What else didn’t he do in Philly?
Chip Kelly just spent an hour with the #49ers beat reporters. It was a fun, enlightening session. A few articles are upcoming.

F-f-f-f-f-fun? En-light-en-ing? What are these words as associated with Chip? I don’t know if I’ve ever heard these before.
[h/t reader James]When he's not writing about sports here or ranting about them on Twitter, Jim is probably watching X-Files on Netflix or drinking a beer somewhere. Jim has nothing against hockey, it's just not his style. He once met Duce Staley at a Sixers game.
