No, this hasn’t become a Washington Nationals blog over the last couple of days, but this is big news.  The wince we saw from Stephen Strasburg on Saturday at Citizen’s Bank Park was likely his UCL tearing (ulnar collateral ligament).

Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo told CSN Washington’s Mark Zuckerman (@markzuckerman) that there is a significant tear in Strasburg’s elbow and that it will likely require Tommy John surgery.

The million dollar question:  will it make him throw harder?  Typically, even though it has a long recovery, Tommy John surgery tightens up the ligaments in the elbow and gives pitchers a boost on their fastball.

Scary.

The Washington Nationals- their draft picks cost more than they wanted, their outfielders are throwing balls at fans, Strasburg's arm is falling off!
