Tampering Tuesday: Rounding Up NFL Reports and Rumors

Nothing new on the Eagles front overnight, but more personnel moves are shaking out as we kick off day two of the NFL’s legal tampering period. Free agent deals can be made official at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
The biggest news was word from ESPN that Case Keenum will be signing with the Broncos in free agency. That’s the first QB domino to fall, leaving Kirk Cousins, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford, and Drew Brees on the market.
Brees looks like he’s staying in New Orleans, according to Ian Rapppppppoport:
The #Saints and QB Drew Brees made significant progress yesterday on his two-year deal, sources say, as his time in the building for Zach Strief’s retirement paid off. The belief is it gets done today.

That would leave the Vikings, Cardinals, Browns, and Bills as teams most in need of a quarterback. The Browns traded for Tyrod Taylor and still pick 1st and 4th in the draft, while the Jets also have a top-ten selection and Buffalo moved into the top 15 following yesterday’s trade of Cordy Glenn.
The Chiefs, meantime, went out and got Sammy Watkins on a reported three year, $48m deal. With Alex Smith headed to Washington, first-year starter Pat Mahomes will have these skill position players around him next season:
- RB: Kareem Hunt
- WR: Sammy Watkins
- WR: Tyreek Hill
- TE: Travis Kelce
Hmm… not bad. Not bad at all. That team is playoff bound if Andy Reid doesn’t ruin it.
Allen Robinson looks like he’s headed to Chicago on a 3 year, $42m deal with $25m guaranteed.
As far as the NFC East, not a ton of meaningful movement so far. The Giants were linked with guard Andrew Norwell, who went and signed with Tom Coughlin and the Jaguars instead:
Former Panthers’ G Andrew Norwell intends to sign with the Jaguars on a 5-year deal for $66.5 million, including $30M fully guaranteed, source tells ESPN. He is going to become NFL’s highest paid guard – $13.3 million average.

New York re-signed guard Jon Halapio and linebacker Mark Herzlich. They pick 2nd in the draft and have a chance to snag a franchise quarterback, or Saquon Barkley.
As for the Cowboys, Orlando Scandrick reportedly wants out:
Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick has requested his release from the team, according to a source. Scandrick hopes to get into the free-agent market when it opens Wednesday. Cowboys seem to have moved on at corner with Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis,… https://t.co/oBgAn2Riqt

Schefter also says that guard Zack Martin is going to get a new deal.
Free agent linebacker Anthony Hitchens is reportedly off to Kansas City. Dallas apparently had shown some interest in both Robinson and Watkins, who ended up going elsewhere.
But they did sit down and talk with Dez, so I guess that’s a step forward:
#Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and WR Dez Bryant did have their much-anticipated conversation prior to the league year beginning, sources tell me and @SlaterNFL. They have not reached out to his agent Kim Miale on doing any alterations to his contract. His standing hasn’t changed.

Dallas hasn’t done much at all. They franchise tagged DeMarcus Lawrence and re-signed DT Brian Price.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is expected to visit the Redskins today. And another former Bird, DeMarco Murray, is visiting with Detroit and Seattle.
Stay tuned. Should be a good day for nuggets to drop.
