Fans Grade the Phillies’ Broadcast Team

Awful Announcing does an annual ranking of MLB broadcast teams, and this year Tom McCarthy and company came in 19th.
That’s down a few spots from 15th in 2017 and 17th in 2016.
1,519 fans offered up a grade on the team of McCarthy, Ben Davis, John Kruk, and Mike Schmidt. Only 247 graded the group as an “A,” while 519 gave them a “B” and 370 went with a “C.” That averages out to a 2.27 score and a spot just inside the top-20 on the list.
I don’t really have a problem with the broadcast crew, though I think they can be kind of dry. I feel like I could get a lot more out of the experience, especially as a casual baseball viewer who doesn’t watch as many games as the typical fan.
I’m not sure if the rest of the Crossing Broad crew feels the same way. One person said he misses Wheels and Sarge and another said McCarthy “adds nothing” to the broadcast. Kyle has had his criticisms in the past and another one of our people says “they are absolutely terrible.”
There’s also this opinion:
Tom McCarthy and Ben Davis are the worst combination in the history of broadcasting. #Phillies

The Giants’ broadcast won top billing while the Mets’ team came in second.
Here’s how the top-20 voting shook out, with the totals on the left and the percentages on the right:
