Penn State Lands Joey Porter’s Son

Fresh off their 51-6 smackdown of the perennially underachieving Pittsburgh Panthers, Penn State is adding another blue chip recruit to the program.
Today Joey Porter Jr., the son of longtime Steeler Joey Porter, committed to the Nittany Lions, writing the following note on Twitter:

Porter Jr. is a 6’2″, 187 pound cornerback/safety prospect out of North Allegheny High. He also plays receiver but was recruited as a defensive backfield stud. He’s a four star recruit and chose the Lions over LSU, Nebraska, Miami, and… Pitt, which rounded out his top five schools.
247Sports does composite rankings of various other networks and they’ve got Porter Jr. rated as the nation’s 30th best cornerback in the 2019 class. He’s widely considered to be one of the top recruits in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
He’ll be a great player if he’s anything like his dad. The elder Porter was a Super Bowl champion and four-time Pro Bowler who now serves as a Steelers assistant after retiring in 2011 following a 13 year career.
