Bob Ley is Retiring from ESPN

One of the best to ever do it, Bob Ley is calling it a career after 40 years at ESPN.

According to ESPN, Ley started as a SportsCenter anchor back in 1979. He hosted the 1980 NCAA selection show and the live NFL draft broadcast and held that gig for almost the next decade.
You probably knew him best in his more “recent” role as Outside the Lines host, which started back in 1990. He also hosted the weekly E:60 show that airs on Sunday mornings. Ley took on special assignments with the United States national soccer team and other sports. He won 11 Sports Emmy Awards, four Edward R. Murrow Awards, and was recently inducted into the National Sports Media Association Hall of Fame.
ESPN says Ley will be on Outside the Lines this afternoon at 1 p.m. His role on OTL will be filled by Jeremy Schaap and Philly native Ryan Smith.
