Your Tuesday Morning Roundup

Tyler Trumbauer - January 30, 2018

From the ascension up the Eastern Conference standings to back-to-back losses.

The Sixers fell to the Bucks on Monday night, 107-95. Joel Embiid did not play due to rest.

The team was horrendous from beyond the arc, shooting just 2-26, but that is just only slightly worse than TLC in general.

As a starter, he logged 23 minutes and scored just six points. He was 2-8 from the floor, including 0-4 from three.

Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks led all scorers with 31 points.

Philly gets back at it on Wednesday night against the Nets at 7:30pm.

The Sixers are good, but not that good, yet.

Coming off a win over the Spurs, in San Antonio, just a few days ago the team battled the streaking Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday evening on ESPN. They led for a good portion of the contest, except for when it mattered. In the end, the Thunder were too much and extended their win streak to eight games with a 122-112 win.

Philly shot better than OKC from the field, beyond the arc, and was just out-rebounded by one. However, they committed 18 turnovers to the Thunder’s 11.

Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 27 points and battled foul trouble as he had three fouls just midway through the second quarter. However, he did unleash this emphatic dunk:

Ben Simmons had 22 points and Dario Saric chipped in 16 in the losing effort.

Some more Embiid highlights to start off your day:

The team visits the Bucks tonight at 8pm.

Now to what else went down this weekend. Continue Reading

I don’t think it has completely sunk in yet. The Eagles are going to the Super Bowl!

We fans deserve this after all the years of near misses with Andy Reid and the brief high and deep lows with the Chip Kelly era, it all was worth it if it means the start of a potential dynasty with Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz. You may think I’m jumping the gun, but Super Bowl 52 could mean the end of one historic run and the beginning of another.

As Eagles fans, we get the ability to sit back, relax, and watch as the Eagles compete every year for the next decade. It all starts next Sunday. Continue Reading

“We are going to the Super Bowl. We are going to the stinkin’ Super Bowl.”

Doug’s words to the team after demolishing the Vikings on Sunday night are a perfect mix of nerdy and boss that only Doug Pederson can orate well.

After the 38-7 drubbing, the Vikings were sent out the only way this city can:

As the Vikings were heading out of town, Eagles fans were heading up:

There’s a lot more to recap from yesterday. Continue Reading

Merrill Reese’s Call With Time Expiring Fills You With Joy

Tyler Trumbauer - January 21, 2018

“…We are going to Minneapolis!”

The Eagles did it and man, was that sweet. Merrill Reese’s call as Nate Sudfeld ran out the clock was just exactly what it needed to be:

More calls after the jump.

We are another day closer.

By now, you’re just ready for the game. It turns out rookie Sidney Jones may also be ready as well.

The Eagles held practice on Wednesday afternoon and the defensive back was a full go, without limitations. Only one other player was on the injury report:

Ellerbe has been hampered by that hamstring for weeks and it may be a game-time decision on if he’l play or not in the NFC Championship showdown on Sunday night. Personally, I’d like to see Jones active as well.

Unfortunately, the game is still days away. Until then, we got analysis, analysis, and more analysis. Let’s go!

The Sixers almost did it again.

The team built up another sizable lead and nearly blew it down the stretch against the Toronto Raptors on Monday afternoon. The Sixers escaped with a 117-111 win on MLK Day to improve to 20-20.

Joel Embiid led Philly with 34 points in the winning effort. T.J. McConnell had 18 points off the bench.

Watch JoJo work:

At the end of the game, things got a bit chippy between Kyle Lowry and Ben Simmons, but Ben doesn’t “take shit from anybody.”

It could’ve gone down in the halls of Wells Fargo Center though:

Off the court, the Sixers signed Demetrius Jackson to a two-way contract.

The team faces the Celtics on Thursday night at 7pm.

One step closer.

The Eagles are back in the NFC Championship and all seems right with the world. Theytopped the Falcons on a defensive goal line stand on Saturday night to earn the 15-10 victory at home.

Listen to Merrill Reese’s call of that fourth and 2 play.

Nick Foles managed the game well and did what needed to do. He was 23-30 for 246 yards. However, it was the defense that was in the spotlight creating havoc and limiting Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons defense.

After the Eagles game, the Patriots mopped the floor with the Titans on Saturday night.

Then Sunday provided two exciting games with the Jaguars eliminating the Steelers and then this happened between the Saints and Vikings:

The stage is set, conference championship Sunday is less than one week ago.

Let’s go! Continue Reading
