Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli that Tony Escargot Sent to Crossing Broad Headquarters

A milestone for Crossing Broad on Wednesday, as we were “Cannoli’d” by the great Tony Escargot from Twitter:
If you have no idea what’s going on here, Tony is one of great Philadelphia Flyers accounts. He (or she?) is equipped with an impressive array of memes and gifs and utilizes each for the trolling of various NHL fans and media. This individual is pro-Michkov and anti-Rick Tocchet and will tweet frequently about both topics, oftentimes with a Shrek animation attached.
But Tony is known primarily for sending cannoli to those in the media. Russell Joy and Anthony SanFilippo have received cannoli. Charlie O’Connor and Kevin Kurz and all of those guys.
Now we’re happy to be a cannolo recipient at Crossing Broad headquarters, via the great Roma Bakery Pastry Shop in Blue Bell.
The context here is that CB defended Tony and other Flyers accounts on Tuesday from the irritating Paul Bissonnette of TNT and the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast. Biz went on another rambling screed against Flyers fans on the latest episode of the podcast, saying this, in part:
Biz (doing a bit and speaking as if he is Rick Tocchet): Flyers fans that are in Paul Bissonnette’s mentions want to actually come and meet him in person. Let him know. Because like you said, Yands (Keith Yandle), there’s a lot of posititivity (sic) in the building, but Flyers fan accounts like Flyers Nation, Tony Escargot – these people don’t show up to the rink. They don’t handle anything face to face. They just want to live on the internet and bitch and moan and be fucking miserable, so kiss my ass.”
Ryan Whitney (with hoagie mouth Boston accent) – “You’ve been going with that Escargot guy for a couple of years now I feel like.”
Biz – “He’s still DM-ing me, he’s still sending shit to my house.”
As mentioned in the story, it’s one thing for Biz to troll. Feel free to rip Flyers fans. Flyers fans will rip back, or send cannoli to his house. We need more banter and more guys going after each other in a healthy sports fan type of way.
But the Chiclets guys are documented Rick Tocchet defenders and so if there’s an actual vitriol that seems to go a little bit outside of the boundaries of typical ball busting, it’s because there are a number of Philly supporters who think these guys are just carrying water for the head coach. That they’re biased and hate Matvei Michkov and Flyers fans. They’re a bunch of former player Barstool meatheads anyway, so nobody should expect objectivity and adherence to the journalistic arts. They’re entertaining, and generate a lot of laughs, but if we’re talking straight up intelligence here, these guys make Cam Skattebo look like a Mensa candidate.
