On Saturday afternoon, the Philadelphia 76ers are on the road taking on the Milwaukee Bucks, with huge playoff implications as these are two of the top three teams in the Eastern Conference.

Let’s take a closer look at the top Sixers vs. Bucks prop picks and make some predictions for this April 24, 2021 matchup.

The Philadelphia 76ers enter play at 39-20, which is good for the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. Their loss to the Bucks on Thursday night dropped them to 0.5 games back of the new top seed Brooklyn Nets. The Milwaukee Bucks, meanwhile, improved to 36-22 on the season, a full 3.0 games ahead of the New York Knicks for third place in an Eastern Conference. Milwaukee could narrow the gap between themselves and the Sixers to 1.5 games with a win.

Philadelphia got a much-needed boost on Thursday night as their second-leading scorer Tobias Harris returned to the lineup after missing three games. It wasn’t enough, however, to overcome big games from two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and bench center Bobby Portis, all of whome scored at least 23 points on the night. The real difference in Thursday night’s game was three-point shooting. Philadelphia’s 12-27 (44.4%) was respectable, but Milwaukee’s 20-40 (50%) from beyond the arc made all the difference.

 

Khris Middleton to Record Over 25.5 Combined Points and Assists (-105, BetMGM)

Khris Middleton has had a rock-solid season for the Milwaukee Bucks. His 20.3 points and 5.6 assists per game are the second-highest marks for his team. His numbers have seen a bit of an uptick in April as his 20.2 points and 6.2 assists per game are increases over the 19.7 points and 4.4 assists per game he averaged in March. In Thursday night’s game against Philadelphia, Middleton dropped 24 points, which marked the second-consecutive contest he put up at least 24 points. His five assists in the game marked the sixth-straight game he’d dished out that many helpers, a feat he’s done in ten of his last eleven games overall.

Given the absence of Philadelphia’s best wing defender Ben Simmons, as well as the potential absence of Joel Embiid in the paint, Middleton could be poised for an even bigger game on Saturday afternoon. Middleton has put up over 25.5 combined points and assists in five of his last six games. It stands to reason he could do it again this afternoon.

Giannis Antetokounmpo to Score 30+ Points (+122, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Two-time reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo had a relatively impressive game in his team’s win over one of the two teams they’re chasing in the Eastern Conference standings on Thursday night. Giannis dropped 27 points on 8-15 shooting from the field, while hitting only 10 of 18 free throw attempts. In five games in the month of April, Antetokounmpo is averaging 30 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Sixers point guard Ben Simmons, who has traditionally taken on the primary defensive assignment of guarding the league MVP, will once again miss this afternoon’s contest, while MVP candidate Joel Embiid is listed as questionable. If Embiid were to miss the game, this one would be a sure-fire wager. Even with him in the lineup, we’d expect Giannis to get up more than 15 field goal attempts, while hitting a higher percentage of his free throw attempts.

Double Your Money: Joel Embiid to Record 1+ Dunks (+100, FOX Bet)

If you’re looking for a fun bet with high upside for a minimal wager, this one could be worth a look. Joel Embiid is listed as questionable, but even if he were to play limited minutes, this event-based prop is one with a real chance of hitting. The Sixers have lost three-consecutive games and are playing the second half of a two-game set in Milwaukee against a Bucks team that could pull to within 1.5 games of second place in the Eastern Conference with a win. These tend to be the games Joel Embiid steps up in, establishing himself as a dominant paint presence early in such games. Although he’s battling right shoulder soreness, there’s a high likelihood Embiid could get into the paint and sky for a momentum-shifting jam.
