On Sunday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will be on the road taking on the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center. This out-of-conference matchup holds massive playoff implications for each team.

Let’s take a closer look at the top Sixers vs. Spurs prop picks and make some predictions for this May 2, 2021 matchup.

Sixers vs. Spurs Player Props (May 2, 2021)

The Philadelphia 76ers enter play in this one at 42-21, which is the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, just 0.5 games behind the Brooklyn Nets for the top seed in the East. The San Antonio Spurs are 31-31 on the season, and while that .500 record would be good enough for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East, it’s got them in tenth place in the West. They sit behind the 32-32 Golden State Warriors and the 32-31 Memphis Grizzlies, with all three teams within 0.5 games of one another.

The road team in this one, Philadelphia is coming off a perfect 3-0 homestand in which they decimated the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-90 and the Atlanta Hawks twice by 127-83 and 126-104 scorelines, respectively. It was a much-needed bounceback stretch after the team had lost four consecutive games.

The San Antonio Spurs are 5-5 in their last ten games, including consecutive road losses to the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics. The game against the Celtics was a disappointing result in that the 143-140 score is indicative of teams that had it going on from the field, with Boston’s strong fourth quarter forcing overtime.

When these teams last met back on March 14, Philadelphia dominated San Antonio 134-99 despite franchise center Joel Embiid missing the contest. Can San Antonio exact their revenge, or will Embiid lead the charge and secure victory for his squad?

Joel Embiid to Record a Double Double (-200, FOX Bet)

Sixers franchise center Joel Embiid was on an absolute tear upon returning from a bone bruise in his knee that cost him three weeks of a potential MVP season. In his last three games, all of which came in blowout fashion, Embiid has averaged just over 24 minutes per game. That reduced gametime has kept him out of the double double market. In Philadelphia’s win over OKC, Embiid put up 21 points and pulled down five rebounds. In two wins over Atlanta, Embiid averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Given the stakes surrounding Sunday night’s clash with the San Antonio Spurs, it stands to reason this one will be a closer contest than the first meeting between the teams in March. San Antonio is scratching and clawing for the final playoff spot in the West, while Philadelphia is angling for the top seed in the East. Expect Embiid to play 30+ minutes and get Jakob Poeltl into early foul trouble en route to a big game with a double double.

Seth Curry to Record Over 13.5 Combined Points, Assists, and Rebounds (-120, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Sharpshooter Seth Curry has been absolutely invaluable to the Philadelphia 76ers this season, as they’ve taken the step from the middle of the pack to within a half game of the top seed in the East. Curry is averaging 12.1 points per game on the season, shooting 44.9% from the field and 42.3% from beyond the arc.

When these teams met back in March, Curry went off for 21 points, pulled down four rebounds, and dished out four assists in just over 26 minutes of game action. Curry has found success in a variety of ways over his last four games, having crossed the 13.5 combined points, assists, and rebounds threshold in three of his last four games. In those contests, Curry only hit double digit points twice. His adaptable game has seen him meet the requisite line through his collection of multiple rebounds or via assists.

If you’re looking for a solid player bet based on a starter for a real contender, this one is worth taking a flier on.

Tobias Harris to Record Over 16.5 Points (-135, BetMGM)

Tobias Harris is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 19.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. He’s second on the team in points, four in rebounds, and third in assists on arguably the best team he’s ever played on. Harris was critical throughout a spurt in which Ben Simmons missed time and he’s proven to be a legitimate scoring threat beyond Embiid.

Harris is averaging 17.5 points per game over his last two contests and has crossed the 16.5 point threshold in four of his last six games. In Philadelphia’s first game against the Spurs this season, Harris dropped 23 points on 10-18 shooting from the field in a 35-point victory.
