One game.

I said after yesterday’s game it was possible. Of course it’s possible to win one game. As long as you look at one game as being only one game and not the beginning of more than one game.

The Phillies felt like maybe the magic had run completely dry, especially after Bryce Harper made one of the worst gaffes in the outfield I’ve ever seen.

But Kyle Schwarber came up in the top of the 8th inning and ended a fantastic at-bat with a homer to right. OK, only down by one. Just need Bryce to find a way to get on and see if Bohm can deliver a clutch hit. That seemed more probable than Harper tying the game with one swing.

But-

“The stretch by the lefty. And the pitch. Harper sw-INGS! HITS ONE HIGH AND DEEP! AND THE GAME IS TIED! Harper and Schwarber go back-to-back when the Phillies need them the most! It’s 3-3 and we start over in the eighth! Table for two at the Chop House, please! 3-3 in the eighth inning. And Harper no doubt letting out some frustration after his miscue in the field, and he ties the game with his 18th home run in the postseason.”

How does Franzke do it? Just iconic timing and phrasing.

How does Harper do that?

Admittedly, I was very emotional after Harper’s error in right field wound up costing the Phillies two runs. That seemed like all she wrote. You felt it. I felt it. But they didn’t feel it, thankfully.

What an absolute SHOW having Schwarber and Harper finally going back-to-back in the clutch, and then having Alec Bohm deliver in the unlikeliest of circumstances with his own home run that surprised literally everybody. And having Franzke there to call it? Perfect.

What a win. What a series. One more left to advance. Can they do it?
