Nick Castellanos was designated for assignment by the Padres after his Tuesday night return to Citizens Bank Park:

Castellanos played 39 games with San Diego, slashing .191/.221/.339 with 22 hits, 5 doubles, 4 HRs, and 34 strikeouts. The former Phillies outfielder squared off against his old team in a 3-game series last week in San Diego, going 1 for 8 in two starts in right field. He had a hit against the Nationals on Sunday, which was his last Padres appearance.
