To understand the masterclass in trolling the Phillies social media team pulled off on Tuesday night, we first have to rewind to Monday night’s game, when Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen had Pirates fans in a frenzy with their broadcast:

Would you believe me if I said that this tweet had 1.5M views? Ultimately, Aaron Nola blew a 5-0 Phillies lead on Monday and the Pirates won the game 11-7, so Pittsburgh fans had some room to run with the comments. Not only were Pirates fans pissed about what Franzke and LA said, but they got to gloat about winning, too:

I don’t really think Franzke and LA said anything too extreme. If you listened to radio announcers, or even TV announcers, stuff like this happens all the time. Did everything that was said in that video need to be said? Maybe not. Is it really that deep? Not at all. Did some things come back to bite them? Yes! That’s also bound to happen when a lead is blown.

Of course, the elite Phillies social media team had to have some fun after the Phillies’ 8-0 shutout win on Tuesday night:

Just an absolutely elite troll job. The Phillies now hold a 4-1 record against the Pirates in 2026, outscoring them 38-20 with three of those wins being shutouts with a combined score of 20-0. What a tough year to be Pittsburgh. First, you have to see Aaron Rodgers come back. Then, you watch the young Flyers send home the Penguins. Now, the Phillies are straight-up dominating.

Shoutout to Scott Franzke, Larry Andersen, Kevin Stocker, and Gregg Murphy, the best radio team in baseball.
