Nothing to see here, just Taijuan Walker throwing three scoreless innings in relief, striking out seven batters and earning his first career MLB save:

That’s Taijuan posting on his official Twitter account. Remember when he deactivated his socials in August while really struggling on the mound? This was his first Twitter post since June. He returned to Instagram a little earlier in the season after originally turning off that account as well.

Bottom line is that he’s back online and playing some of his best baseball ever. In total, he’s made seven appearances this season, six as a starter and then Wednesday night in relief. He has a 2.30 ERA, 29 strikeouts, 13 walks, and a 1.245 WHIP. Per nine innings, he is allowing just 0.6 home runs and 3.7 walks while striking out 8.3 batters. Across the board, these are numbers that match the 2021 and 2022 seasons he had with the Mets, which earned him an All-Star appearance.

This is a GREAT story. Classic redemption arc. Walker just didn’t have it at all in 2024. He was hearing it from the fans, be it the boos at the ballpark or the GoFundMe effort to buy out his contract. He more or less became lightning rod 1A for fan ire while Garrett Stubbs and his Spotify playlist were 1B. But Walker put his head down, got right back to it, and spent the offseason working on his game in an effort to recapture the form he showed earlier in his career. Now the guy is throwing absolute gems on the mound and he’s become one of the most reliable arms on the staff in 2025.

Good for him. The Phils are on fire right now, 8-2 in their last 10. Ring the god damn bell.
