The Maestro Caught a Home Run Derby Schwarbomb
This is pretty dope:
This feels like a full-circle moment. Kyle starts Crossing Broad back in 2009, presumably wearing nothing but underwear while sitting in his parents’ basement, then 17 years later he’s catching Schwarbombs at the Home Run Derby with his kids. A core memory unlocked for the boys! A formative sporting moment, no doubt.
By the way – did you know that CB started as a Phillies blog? Unofficially. There are currently 40,601 published articles on the site, and going all the way back to the beginning, the first blog post celebrates the signing of Roy Halladay. There’s some Flyers and Villanova stuff from the early days, mostly Kyle obsequiously slurping the Wildcats, but CB was primarily a Phillies site during the heyday of Doc, Cliff Lee, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels, and all of those guys. I believe Kyle was posting Phillies stuff on Facebook around 2007 and 2008, and so the natural segue was to build that out into a legitimate blog.
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
