Some Thoughts on Mike Gansey’s Blazer
Mike Gansey showed up to the home opener wearing this:
Honestly, it takes guts to show up in the plaid jacket. Not everyone can pull it off. Not everyone has the cajones to even try. But I think the consensus is that if you played a role in bringing in Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons, KCP, and Labaron Philon Jr., then you can show up wearing anything. Because you’re currently the man. Gansey could have shown up looking like John Fetterman and nobody would have cared. He could have shown up wearing shorts and a hoodie and nobody would have said a single thing.
The thing about Gansey is that we’ve always known he has a great fashion sense, which he likely picked up in Morgantown, a small city known as “The Milan of the Western Hemisphere.” During his playing days, he wore the XL baggy t-shirt underneath the jersey. And the t-shirt color always matched the jersey color. He had a gray shirt to go with the light gray jerseys, then white/gold/blue for the others:

The other thing people pointed out is that Gansey looked like he was paying homage to both Craig Sager and Dr. Jack Ramsay. RIP to both of those great men. Sager wore all sorts of crazy jackets and Ramsay had the plaid pants and other similar designs, basically what you’d imagine your grandmother’s couch looked like back in the late 70s and early 80s –

Everything is clicking for the Sixers right now. They are 2-0. They have LeBron James. The President of Basketball Operations has a sartorial splendor about him. Play the song, Choonis!
