On Friday night, the Milwaukee Bucks will play host to the Atlanta Hawks for Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Finals series.

Let’s take a closer look at the top Hawks vs. Bucks Game 2 player prop picks and make some predictions for this June 25, 2021 NBA Playoffs matchup.

Hawks vs. Bucks Game 2 Player Props (June 25, 2021)

The legend of the upstart Atlanta Hawks continued to grow on Wednesday night when they upset the Eastern Conference’s third seed in Milwaukee 116-113. Trae Young’s meteoric rise from young start to legitimate superstar became undeniable in a 48-point performance that out dueled two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 34-point showing. All eyes will be on this pivotal Game 2 on Friday night.

Trae Young was the standout star of Game 1, shooting 17-34 from the field, including 4-13 from beyond the arc and 10-12 from the free throw line. He also dished out 11 assists and pulled down 7 rebounds in the winning effort. John Collins (23), Kevin Huerter (13), and Clint Capela (12) all joined Young in double figures.

Giannis Antetokounmpo only attempted 2 three-point field goals, missing both, shooting 14-25 on the game  for 34 points to go with 12 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Khris Middleton picked a bad game t o effectively no-show, shooting a woeful 6-23 from the field for 15 points, while Jrue Holiday had arguably his best game in a Bucks Uniform in a 33-point, 10-assist performance.

Will the Bucks level the series at a game apiece or will the Hawks take a shocking 2-0 lead back to Atlanta?

Game 6 Best Bets
Jrue Holiday to Score 20+ Points (-120, BetMGM)
Devin Booker to Score 30+ Points and Make 3+ Three-Pointers (+220, FanDuel Sportsbook)
Pat Connaughton to Make Over 1.5 Three-Point Field Goals (-222, FOX Bet)

Giannis Antetokounmpo to Record Over 17.5 Combined Rebounds and Assists (-174, FanDuel Sportsbook)

It’s put up or shut up time for Milwaukee’s two-time NBA MVP as Giannis Antetokounmpo cannot afford to allow his team to fall behind 2-0 in this Eastern Conference Finals series. Giannis flipped a scoring switch in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, which saw him begin a run of six consecutive games with 30+ points. Perhaps even more impressive has been his dominance on the boards and his ability to rack up assists over the past three games:

  • Game 6 v. BRK: 17 REB, 3 AST (20 total)
  • Game 7 @ BRK: 13 REB, 5 AST (18 total)
  • Game 1  v. ATL: 12  REB, 9 AST (21 total)

In three regular season games against the Hawks, Antetokounmpo put up combined rebounds and assists totals of 22, 7, and 18. The issue with the outlier of seven combined rebounds and assists is that it came in just 24:52 of game action.

If you’re feeling more bullish about Giannis’ ability to rack up more than 18 combined rebounds and assists, you can get him to record 19+ at -125 odds, 20+ at +116 odds, or 21+ at +158 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Trae Young to Score Over 30.5 Points (-113, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Despite numerous comparisons to Steph Curry throughout the early portion of his career, Trae Young hadn’t demonstrated the same consistent lights-out scoring ability, particularly from beyond the arc. That former portion of that  argument appears to have fallen by the wayside this postseason, as he’s put up at least 25 points in 10 of his 13 playoff games and at least 30 in seven of those contests.

Young is coming off an enormous 48-point performance in which he shot 17-34 from the field, including 4-13 from downtown. Shooting 50% from the field on that number of field goal attempts is impressive enough, but it’s even more remarkable impressive when you account for just two-point field goal attempts, where he shot 61.9%.

Young has put up at least 34 points in three of his last four games, including Game 5 and Game 7 against the Sixers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, as well as Game 1 against the Bucks. The critical thing to keep in mind is that each of those three games with 34+ points came in an Atlanta victory.

If Atlanta is to take a 2-0 series lead, Young will need to be the best scoring threat on the floor. Given that he’s averaging 27.5 field goal attempts per game over his last four games, it stands to reason he’ll have every chance to put up 31+ points.

John Collins to Record Over 9.5 Rebounds (-105, BetMGM)

For as excellent as Trae Young has been and as large of a leap forward as he’s taken, fourth year forward John Collins has seen an underrated yet impressive trajectory. Collins has put up double-digit points in 10 of 13 playoff games, including a playoff-high 23 points in Game 1 in Milwaukee.

Collins’ scoring, however, hasn’t been the most important contribution he’s made as of late. Over his last seven games, Collins has pulled down at least 10 rebounds in six of those contests. Collins has grabbed at least 10 rebounds in each of his last five games, beginning with Game 4 against the Sixers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Collins has become an absolute beast on the boards in the last two games, grabbing 16 boards in a decisive Game 7 victory and 15 rebounds in a surprising Game 1 upset. Given his recent form, as well as his rebound prowess this postseason, it stands to reason John Collins will be able to secure at least 10 rebounds.
