Devan Kaney Leaving Philadelphia for a New Job
According to her:
“I’m so excited to share what’s next for me but first I have to shoutout my incredible friends, family and colleagues who have been so supportive over the last few months as I navigated my next career move. Change is never easy, but I’m grateful for the people in my life who make sure I know that I am never alone.“
“it’s not goodbye Philly it’s see ya later! I’ll still be around and podcasting about our Phillies and I hope you follow along as I embark on my next chapter. stay tuned. go birds.”
The language is a little vague in there, but she is departing for a job in another city.
Kaney was part time at FOX 29, a freelance role anchoring sports. Jamie Apody is now filling those hours while DK leaves town for another job that she hasn’t revealed yet. The full-time sports anchors at FOX are Breland Moore and Scott Grayson.
Devan was previously with 94 WIP, anchoring the morning show and some weekend shifts, working Phillies games, and handling Howard Eskin’s previous role as Eagles sideline reporter. She was laid off at the end of March.
What’s interesting is that Kaney rose pretty quickly through the ranks here. She was working for the NLL and the Wings as a sideline reporter, then popped up in various spots – with the Eagles, JAKIB Media, Flyers, FOX, and WIP. So there was quite a bit added to the resume in a short period of time, and then it ended somewhat abruptly. I’d imagine the new gig leans on her on-air experience. WIP, meantime, will need a new sideline reporter for gamedays.
