RADIO WARS: Jon Marks Launches Surprise Attack on Rhea Hughes and LeBron James Flip-Floppers

A reader sent over this clip from Tuesday’s Middays with Marks show on 97.5 the Fanatic.
It’s a voice memo from known hoagie guy and diehard sports fan Philly Fink, and about halfway through Jon Marks takes a shot at Rhea Hughes:
“There’s a lot of frauds out there that have very quickly changed their tune, that went weeks saying ‘oh LeBron James, you don’t want him (for) this reason’ – like very, very against LeBron James, and he’s selfish and all this other stuff. (Now) all of a sudden – ‘oh I love LeBron, what a great signing!’ Like Rhea (Hughes). I heard Rhea for weeks was talking about how you don’t want LeBron, I didn’t actually hear this; this is what people told me. And all of a sudden on Monday, ‘oh what a great signing LeBron is!’ Just pay attention; there’s a lot of phonies on the airwaves that are going to change their tune. Just remember that. Seriously? Get a diary, Ray, and we’re going to keep track of every phony and fraud out there, what they said before and what they said after. I’m taking notes.”

What a week for RADIO WARS.
First, we had Sean Brace saying that 94 WIP does not employ diehard Philadelphia sports fans. Then Spike Eskin recorded a three-minute video in which he more or less threw Audacy social under the bus. Now Jonny Marks is out here launching Shahed attack drones at Rhea Hughes and his former employer.
Flip flopping hasn’t been this prominent in the news cycle since George W. Bush went after John Kerry back in 2004. But it’s a wise military strategy from Marks. Flip floppers are, indeed, some of the biggest phonies out there. Nobody likes a flip flopper. And it’s interesting that Rhea Hughes is the target of a surprise attack, since Rhea never appears in RADIO WARS, nor does the WIP morning show, which is currently the only listenable program on 94 WIP.
In my mind, this constitutes the opening of a new front.
It’s interesting to think about 97.5 middays, and what kind of capabilities they possess. They’re kind of like Iran in the sense that they’re firing some random missiles at WIP, but we don’t really know the extent of their capabilities. Is Middays with Marks a paper tiger, and only showing a public display of force? Or do they have centrifuges hidden under One Bala Plaza, shielded by impenetrable layers of rock? Do they possess the means to do real damage, or are they simply trying to provoke WIP into retaliation?
94.1 has largely ignored the Fanatic, and pretends they don’t exist, which is the best diss one can ever employ. It’s like Conor McGregor saying “who the fuck is that guy?” in response to Jeremy Stephens. WIP doesn’t have to worry about the Fanatic because WIP has Eagles rights, Phillies rights, and innumerable low-IQ football fans to support the entry-level product. So WIP is good. They don’t have to do anything at all. The ball is in the Fanatic’s court. They’re the ones with the work to do.
