Let’s Wawa Welcome Christina Aguilera to this Year’s 4th of July Concert
We’ve got a lineup for the Wawa Welcome America 4th of July concert, which apparently this year is the “One Philly Unity Concert For America” –
This is a nice lineup. Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, and the ubiquitous Roots collaboration with some big names. The Roots’ collabs are always very good. Then there’s Seal just kind of named there at the bottom, which feels somewhat whack because Seal was pretty big back in the day. Everybody is always like, “oh yeah, Kiss from a Rose from the Batman Forever soundtrack!” But Seal has a couple of multi-platinum albums and he could have been placed anywhere in this lineup, in my personal opinion. Put some respect on Seal’s name!
Related, I see a bit of grumbling on the timeline that Philly native Jill Scott is going on before Aguilera. Fair gripe I guess, though Aguilera was HUGE back in the day. Not like physically huge, but really successful. Not everybody can headline I guess.
Anyway –
The annual concert always brings with it a couple of quality moments. The highlight may have been NBC 10 bleeping out half of a Ludacris performance a few years back:
