Rush Shouted Out the Late Pierre Robert at Philly Show
On a slow sports day in late August, we will share this cool video of Rush shouting out the late Pierre Robert at one of their recent Philly shows:
“Before this next song, I’d like say something about someone we knew here in Philadelphia. I’m sure you all knew in one way or another on the radio, at WMMR. Pierre Robert is no longer with us. We do this song for him, this is Spirit of the Radio.”
How cool is that? Getting a shout out from Rush. Pierre really did cross paths with everyone.
Rush, by the way, is touring for the first time without Neil Peart. RIP. He can never be replaced, so we will say that Anika Nilles is currently sitting on the drum kit for Rush. Yes… That terminology works. There can never be a Neil Peart replacement. Geddy, by the way, is 73 and Alex Lifeson is 72. They played two long sets over two nights at Xfinity Mobile Arena, one of which included Moving Pictures in its entirety. They still sound good. You can nitpick some of Anika’s drum parts, but those are massive kick pedals to fill. Neil Peart and Pierre Robert = irreplaceable.
