The Liberty Brawl Promotion Has Begun with Mike “The Marine” Richman Declaring that Philly Fans are “Fucking Pussies”
Everybody is getting in on the summer action in Philadelphia. PGA Tour, World Cup, MLB All-Star Game, UFC 330, and various Semiquincentennial celebrations throughout the city.
Bare Knuckle FC’s contribution is the July 3rd “Liberty Brawl” at Xfinity Mobile Arena, and the fight promotion has already begun with Mike “The Marine” Richman calling Philly fans “fucking pussies” –
Oh man! This is a difficult one. Richman is a Marine Corps vet, and he’s fighting here one day before America’s 250th birthday, in the city where the Marine Corps was born. It’s hard to root against a veteran in Philly. Thank you for your service and Semper Fi, but you call the locals pussies and unfortunately you now have to get your ass kicked.
They should do the face off at the new Tun Tavern, and Johnny Garbarino should drop a cannoli off the roof and right onto Richman’s head. Like one of those “pumpkin drops” your kid does in science class, but maybe a drone flies overhead with the package. That would be cool. Garbarino needs to think of new and creative ways to weaponize his signature cannoli. Maybe he can use the Phillie Phanatic’s hot dog launcher, but it’s filled with cannolis instead, and he unloads myriad Italian desserts right into his opponent’s face, howitzer style. Now that would be some good video!
I love this shit. It’s so ridiculous.
But on a more serious note, this is a good fight. Richman is legit, an MMA and bare knuckle veteran of many fights, but he’s 40 years old and Garbarino is 30. Johnny moves well and is hard to hit, though this is a proper step up in competition for the South Philly native. Richman is 10x better than the last couple of guys Garbarino fought.
Funny enough, at Knucklemania back in February, a decent portion of the crowd left after Garbarino won his bout against Kaine Tomlinson Jr. He was definitely the biggest draw. BKFC hasn’t put together the running order yet for this one, but the main and co-main are both title fights:
That’s a good main event. Austin Trout vs. Ben Bonner. Bonner was here in February. Then Britain Hart defends against Sarah Shell. Richman, by the way, also fought at Knucklemania, so he knows the arena and the situation.
The first two Knucklemania events at Xfinity did really well. Record attendances and rowdy crowds, even though security had to break up a ton of fights. That’s why BKFC is coming back so quickly. Philadelphia is their backyard and they hold a bunch of events here, and if it ain’t broke, then I guess it does not require fixing.
