The World Cup begins on Thursday and myriad visitors have arrived in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

It’s been funny combing through social media and following along as some of these people experience North America for the first time. One of the accounts I’m following is this guy “Freddy” from Germany, who has been cruising around the Bible Belt and hitting up places like Taco Bell, Stone Mountain, and Waffle House:

Man hell yeah. It doesn’t get any better than Chili’s and the NBA Finals. Looks like he’s got himself a quesadilla (1,670 calories) and some sort of margarita there. The Chili’s website says the marg of the month is a Cosmo, with blanco tequila, Tito’s vodka, monin, blackberry, cranberry juice, and triple sec. He’s got some french fries too. Looks like he also visited Stone Mountain, the Appalachian part of North Georgia, and Chattanooga as well, according to the rest of his timeline. He’s driving down to Auburn today to see a game between Argentina and Iceland at Jordan-Hare. War Damn Eagle! Then he’s going over to Houston for Germany’s World Cup opener vs. Curacao on Sunday. He should stop on the way at Port Arthur, which is home of the great rap duo UGK. Rip Pimp C.

But yes, it is cool to see these folks experience the USA for the first time ever. Sometimes we have to be reminded of the great things that we take for granted, like Taco Bell, Walmart, and Waffle House.
