There are now 8 online casino apps in PA. These are legal, regulated online casinos from popular brand names such as DraftKings, Unibet, and BetRivers. In this post we help you decide which is best.
Our top recommended PA online casino is Unibet PA (get $10 free right here ). They offer the most robust selection of online slots, a modern app, and a range of table games and video poker. It’s the best overall online casino in Pennsylvania.
8 Best PA Online Casino Apps
There are now eight online casino apps in PA. Here’s our ranking as of September, 2020:
Online poker is available in Pennsylvania, but it is not included it traditional casino apps. Poker is only through PokerStars PA, which shares a wallet with the casino app of the same name.
More apps are expected once the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approves operators to launch.
All of these are in addition to PA online sports betting apps, which launched last year.
1. Unibet Online Casino
Unibet Online Casino PA launched in Pennsylvania on November 12. It features perhaps the most robust offering of games, including multiple Blackjack variants.
Unibet offers a full range of casino games, a strong deposit bonus, ongoing promos, a large jackpot game, and an online sportsbook option with a shared wallet.
Unibet’s interface is no frills, but straightforward, clean, and modern. Deposit options are varied and allow players of all levels an option to deposit money, safely and securely.
Get an exclusive signup bonus when you use promo code UNIGRAND. We’ve partnered with Unibet to offer in addition to their $10 no deposit bonus a $1,000 deposit match. Click here and enter code UNIGRAND when you signup. You’ll get $10 free, and then your first deposit will be matched up to $1,000.
In addition to their free play bonus, Unibet offers a weekly casino reload of 25% up to $50 with a 10x play-through requirement.
There’s also a table games leaderboard. Every time a player wagers $1 cash on a qualifying table game, they will receive 1 point on the leaderboard. At the end of each period, the leaders are awarded bonuses ranking from $25 to $1,000.
2. DraftKings Casino
DraftKings Casino offers the best online casino experience. The app includes a ton of slots, but what separates from its peers is its focus on table and live dealer games.
DraftKings is welcoming to both traditional casinogoers along with the younger, male demo it markets its sportsbook product to. There’s a decidedly more modern feel to some of the DraftKings’ table games, which is more welcoming for a wider audience. In New Jersey, they’ve built out their own studio and have begun testing it. Unlike other live dealer options, DraftKings sets its Blackjack game in a modern studio with dealers in sports jerseys and potentially games on the TV behind them. That option will be coming soon to PA, too.
But what really matters is DraftKings’ excellent tech, wide range of deposit options, and strong ongoing promotions. If you like sports, the casino is contained within the excellent DraftKings Sportsbook PA app, meaning you get a first-class gaming experience across the board.
3. FanDuel Casino
There is nothing inherently special about FanDuel’s casino options, but all of the basics are there. What FanDuel has going for it, however, is its powerful brand and app technology, which is among the best in the gaming industry. We also like the signup bonus– $200 risk free for the first 24 hours. It’s different and allows the new players to dig in and learn the ropes without risking too much money.
The one downside to FanDuel’s casino is that it’s mobile-only and can’t be played on desktop or laptop.
FanDuel represents a great option for the mobile-first player who wants a shared wallet with the most popular online sportsbook.
4. PokerStars PA Casino
PokerStars PA also offers its own online casino with a staggering array of up to $1,500 in deposit bonuses.
Sharing a wallet with FOX Bet and the PokerStars poker app, the Stars-backed PokerStars Casino features leading slot and table games available across desktop, iPhone and Android phones.
There is a bit of confusion around the “PokerStars” brand, specifically in Pennsylvania. So here’s how it works:
The Stars Group owns the PokerStars brand, which offers a standalone poker app in PA, an online casino app, and an online sportsbook. FOX Sports has an equity stake in the company, so the sportsbook is called FOX Bet (which itself contains the PokerStars Casino options). All three apps share account-level details such as user name, password and, most importantly, wallet– meaning you can sign up for any of the three apps and share funds between them.
For online casino in PA, we recommend PokerStars Casino because it offers the best series of signup bonuses. But any of the three apps – casino, poker, or sportsbook – give you access to the PokerStars suite of real money gaming options.
When you sign up, you are given a series of three $500 deposit matches using the promo codes WELCOME1, WELCOME 2, and WELCOME3. In addition, on your second and third deposit bonuses you’re given a “Mystery Chest” containing a slots bonus up to $500. There are play-through requirement on all these, but that is to be expected with any casino bonus codes. All in all, these represent an unbelievable value to new players in a class-leading online casino.
5. FOX Bet Casino
Best of all, FOX Bet is one of only two online casinos in PA, along with Hollywood Casino, that can be played through an iOS app. Others, such Unibet and SugarHouse, can only be played through the mobile web on iOS thanks to an Apple policy that restricts casino games that aren’t coded specifically for their platform.
Since upwards of half of all iGaming takes place on an iPhone or iPad, the ability to play in a native app is important. And we think FOX is best of breed.
FOX Bet’s casino offers a decent selection of table games, including BlackJack, Roulette, and more. There are also 57 online slots and video poker.
FOX Bet’s interface is excellent, particularly on the app.
More importantly, FOX Bet features POKERSTARS. Both brands are owned by The Stars Group, so when you sign up for FOX Bet, you also get access and shared wallet to play PokerStars in PA.
FOX Bet’s online casino isn’t the best straight casino options, but if you’re looking for a good casino-sportsbook combo in PA, it’s your best bet.
6. Hollywood Online Casino
Hollywood Online Casino launched on July 15 and offers a stellar Blackjack experience from IGT games.
Like FOX Bet, Hollywood’s Online Casino is available as an iOS app, though slot selection is limited through the app.
Hollywood Online Casino recently added iOS availability, meaning it is now available across all platforms.
7. SugarHouse Online Casino
SugarHouse’s online casino in PA offers select slot games with table games expected to launch in the future. Sugarhouse Online Casino features a shared wallet with SugarHouse Sportsbook, so users can deposit and wager from the same pool of money.
What makes SugarHouse standout is that their deposit bonus comes with only a 1x play-through, meaning you only need to wager the bonus money once before it is eligible for withdraw.
SugarHouse has been a leader in online gambling, being quick to market with premium tech, excellent signup bonuses, and strong promotions.
Parx’s online casino is currently live but with very limited offerings.
Read about Parx Sportsbook.
Like sugarHouse, only slot games will be available at Parx’s online casino.
Parx Online Casino suffers from the same iOS issue and won’t offer an iOS app at launch.
Here are the types of real money online casino games available to play in Pennsylvania:
|PA Online Casino Games|
As mentioned earlier, online poker is not available through casino apps in PA. However, you can play it through PokerStars, which shares a wallet with the other Stars Group casino apps– FOX Bet and PokerStars Casino.
Live Dealer Games
Unfortunately, live dealer casino games are not yet available in PA like they are at NJ online casinos, where like Blackjack options are plentiful.
|echeck (routing number)|
|Credit or debit card|
|Cash at cage|
Not every casino offers each of these deposit methods. We recommend using online banking where available, or echeck, which requires a bank routing and account number. These methods are most likely to have success.
Credit and debit card deposits are often blocked by banks and credit card companies.
In the absence of a bank account, each casino offers some version of cash at cage or PayNearMe features, like being able to deposit money at 7-11s and other locations.
PA Online Casino Bonus Codes
|Online Casino||Signup Bonus|
|DraftKings||$200 free for 24 hours|
|FanDuel||$200 risk-free for 24 hours|
|Unibet||$10 free with no deposit + $500 deposit match|
|PokerStars Casino||Up to $1,500 deposit bonus|
|FOX Bet||$500 deposit match|
|Hollywood||$500 deposit match|
|SugarHouse||$250 deposit match|
This means you don’t need a promo code to sign up for most PA casino apps. Why? While the promo code is a vestige of all sorts of online offers, casinos generally can track where their users come from. So rather than offer a promo code, they off a blanket signup bonus along with in-app promos. You can click on any of the offers here to activate these bonuses.
Right now, only Unibet bet offers a free play– $10 no deposit bonus when you sign up here .
One you are signed up with an online casino in Pennsylvania, they will occasionally push you offers and reload bonuses in addition to ongoing jackpots and more.

Online Casino Tax Rates in Pennsylvania
A big reason behind the delay in launch of online gambling in PA was due to the high tax rates. Online slots, for example, are taxed at a rate of 54%, which leaves little margin for operators.
Online casinos are taxed at the following rates in PA:
- Table games: 16%
- Online poker: 16%
- Online slots: 54%
- Sports betting: 36%
- Daily fantasy: 15%
It’s worth noting that these tax rates are for the operators, not the players. These are the taxes casinos have to pay on their revenue for each of these types of games.
As you can see, online slots, which have a high win rate for casinos, are taxed the most. This is the largest source of revenue for both physical and online casinos, and therefore the state wants its cut.
Table games have narrower margins, so the rates operators have to pay are much lower.

The Path To Online Gambling
The legalization history of online gambling in PA
House Bill 271 was approved by the PA Senate (31-19) on October 25, 2017 and later by the PA House of Representatives (109-72) on October 26, 2017. Governor Tom Wolf signed the bill into law on October 30, 2017.
Pennsylvania’s House and Senate projected a potential revenue in excess of $200 million in this current fiscal year to be generated via online gaming. The majority of that revenue was expected to come from online poker and gambling. The working understanding the state’s House and Senate operated under was that a limited number of licenses of $10 million would be assigned to interested operators, allowing for online slot machines, poker, and table games to be made available to PA residents.
Aside from the $10 million licensing fee for all three gaming verticals, the state is expected to offer six licenses allowing access to two verticals each for $4 million. There is also a $1 million fee for a platform provider license with sixteen expected to be hand out.
The exorbitant sums for the aforementioned licenses have likely contributed to why online casino gaming has been slow to roll out in PA; it’s somewhat cost-prohibitive.
In addition to the license fees to be paid by interested entities, the state has announced the tax rates that will provide revenue to Pennsylvania. The established tax rates for slot machine revenue, table games and poker are 54% for the former and 16% for the latter two respectively.
Other aspects of House Bill 271
Per the PA General Assembly, House Bill 271 not only opened the door for online casino gaming, but also:
- Daily Fantasy Sports
- PA iLottery
- Airport accessible tablet gaming
- Satellite casinos throughout the state
- Truck stop video gaming terminals
