Tonight’s Viewing Schedule: CBP Beer List on GSD and Ryan Howard on “The Office”

Kyle Scott - April 4, 2013

Screen Shot 2013-04-04 at 10.09.05 AM

7 p.m.: Phillies play the Braves in Atlanta on Comcast Network (reasonable chance it gets rained out).

7 p.m.: Flyers play the Maple Leafs in Toronto on CSN.

9 p.m.:

Ryan Howard’s The Office appearance.

10:30 p.m., after the Phillies game: Great Sports Debate on Comcast Network. My iPhone-filmed piece with local producer and food blogger Lee Porter airs (around 11:15). Lee, for the second year in a row, has put together a Citizens Bank Park beer list, with locations. I hung out and walked around with him for four hours last Friday night at the on-deck series as he painstakingly logged every beer in the ballpark. I shot it with an iPhone and it will be on TV tonight. After the show, at around 11:30, Lee will post his list, conveniently in spreadsheet form, conveniently just in time for the home opener, and conveniently for all your drinking needs. I’ll link to it and post video at the same time, but do check it out on GSD.

Bynum Spotting: Images of a Loon (Andrew Bynum Loads Beer into His Ferrari)

Kyle Scott - January 10, 2013

Screen Shot 2013-01-10 at 8.54.55 AM

Reader Nick sends along this photo, taken this week outside Beer Heaven on Delaware Ave., of Andrew Bynum loading “a case or two” of Corona into his Ferrari FF.

Nick:

Hey, here is Andrew Bynum at craft beer shop picking up a case or two of Corona heading to the Wells Fargo Center. Says he will be back in February. Also says he will sign with us!

How many titties do you think Bynum is going to pour his craft beer over? 2? 10?! Some odd number that makes you stop and take pause??? The possibilities are endless. But hey, did you hear what he said? He plans on coming back and staying (!!!). Cool beans.

Snark aside, let me applaud Nick for that ballsy photo. Bynum is looking right at him. But Nick don’t care. He was not to be stopped. He spotted a loon and, by God, it was going to get on the interwebs. Good man.

While you’re in the mood, check out BuzzFeed’s post on the Bynum saga as told by increasingly strange and depressing headlines. My Twitter made it in there. So proud.

Claude Giroux and His Cast Smoked This Girl in Beer Pong on Sunday Night

And yes, that is a 30-inch high inflatable Smirnoff bottle in the corner

We’ve discovered more pictures from Claude Giroux’s weekend.

Following some Baggo at the North Shore Swim Club in Northern Liberties on Saturday and mugging with John Bolaris ex-Playboy girlfriend, Erica Smitheman, on Sunday, G continued the party at his house, where he smoked this girl in beer pong:

We’ll let Alexandra (@alexanndra) explain her night:

Yeah, no shit he does, Santino. Crushing at beer pong despite sizable post-op casts on both wrists? Ginger strong.

It was Giroux's second night in a row playing beer pong with the locals, it seems. This Tweet, 24 hours earlier:

And Now, A Comprehensive Citizens Bank Park Beer List

Don’t ask how or why, but the folks over at ChocolateCoveredMemories.com – which sounds like a website to share your prom night experiences – were sweet enough to put together a comprehensive spreadsheet of all the beers at Citizens Bank Park. It’s quite impressive… and delicious sounding. We can't embed it because it's in fucking Google Docs, but give it a look.

Here Are Your New 2012 Phillies Menu Items at Citizens Bank Park

Kyle Scott - March 29, 2012

Phillies_food

Food, gimmicks, trinkets! The Phillies have new who’s its and what’s its galore for you to spend your hard-earned cash on.

Let’s delve.

In a press release yesterday, the Phillies announced some of the new items on-sale this year at Citizens Bank Park. You can view the entire list after the jump. But, as far as merchandise goes, there are just more everyday items with a Phillies “P” blasted on them. Yoga mats? Check.

You can also buy champagne corks from previous clinching celebrations.

I felt that last one deserved its own paragraph… just like this one.

But what we’re really interested in are the new food items. Last year the team added some healthy options (panini, wraps, etc). This year– FATTY CORPUSCLES! And I like it!

Dessert Alley: Satisfy those sweet-tooth cravings at Dessert Alley behind Section 140!  Choose from an incredible selection of goodies including homemade cinnamon sugar donuts, Gina’s homemade cupcakes, hand-spun milkshakes, ice cream bar with hand-dipped ice cream and candy toppings, fresh funnel cake and hand-scooped water ice.

Oh wow. Dana, my little 95 lb grazer*, suddenly wants to go to more games .

*I called her at work to make sure it was OK to make a fat joke (ALWAYS DO THIS, GENTLEMEN), and her response as I read the offerings was: “Mmmmmm, oh my… mmm.”

Nachos and Tacos: Fans craving cuisine from south of the border can head over to Section 122 and enjoy Ancho Pepper Braised Pork Nachos (ancho pepper braised pork, nacho cheese, fresh-cut tomato salsa, fresh jalapenos and sour cream), BBQ Chicken Nachos (slow-roasted chicken braised in barbecue sauce with nacho cheese, black beans, fresh-cut tomato salsa and sour cream), Pork Tacos (cilantro-lime pork, fresh-cut pico, crispy cabbage and shredded cheddar cheese) and Chicken Tacos (chipotle-garlic chicken, fresh-cut pico, crispy cabbage and shredded cheddar cheese).

See, this is dangerous. This can go horribly, horribly wrong at a ballpark when it’s 95 degrees out. The chicken tacos are probably simple enough. And while the other options sound tasty, we’re going to need an independent auditor on this… which will be me next week.

New Paninis and Black Bean Burgers: These fan favorites are back but with a twist. New additions include the Chicken Pesto Panini (chicken breast, spinach, ricotta, provolone, red pepper, pesto) and Italian Market Panini (cappicola, Genoa salami, pepperoni, provolone, red onion, pepperoncini, tomato, Italian vinaigrette) – all located behind Sections 125, 204 and 321. Fans can also enjoy Southwestern Black Bean Burgers, complete with guacamole and salsa, behind Sections 128, 140, 206 and 323.

Those sound horrible, actually.

Bullpen Brews: (behind the bullpens on Ashburn Alley) This new addition features domestic, import, regional and micro brews.

I’m pretty sure there was already a Beers of the World here, so………

ONE FINAL THING, IN CASE ANYONE FROM THE PHILLIES IS PAYING ATTENTION: One of last year's new items, Yogen Fruz, was delicious. But, FIGURE OUT A WAY TO SHORTEN THE LINES!!!!! There were two stands, open for what seemed like two innings, operated by cousins of Opie from Family Guy. The treat was – by far – the best dessert item in the ballpark, and it was barely accessible. Please fix, thanks.

Video and a full list of new items is after the jump. Caution, the novelty items might insult your intelligence

This is What the “Victory Beer Hall” at Xfinity Live! Will Look Like

Kyle Scott - December 17, 2011

image.jpeg

The other day, we posted an extensive preview of what you can expect to see at Xfinity Live! (!!!). By far, my favorite area was the German beer hall, which will officially be called "Victory Beer Hall," in partnership with the Downingtown brewery.

Yesterday, a few more details were released, along with the above mockup.

From the press release:

The German-‐style beer hall will have indoor and outdoor seating, an over 2,000 square-‐foot patio with fire pit, a stage for live entertainment, and plenty of televisions where you can watch your favorite Philly team. The menu will feature German-‐style fare from local purveyors such as Dietz and Watson. In partnership with XFINITY Live! Philadelphia, Victory will be directly involved in the training and education of Victory Beer Hall employees to ensure a similar first-‐class experience that visitors will find at the Victory Brewpub in Downingtown, PA. The Victory Beer Hall at XFINITY Live! Philadelphia, will feature Victory beers along with other regional and national brands.

Nice.

Now, to be fair, Dietz and Watson is hardly considered a bastion of German fare… but any room filled with meats and craft brews is just fine by me.

Phillies to Add Two New Beer Stands for Playoffs

Kyle Scott - September 29, 2011

image from mobilwi.typepad.com

Well this is a welcome addition.

If you remember, two weeks ago, we very publicly bitched about customer service – specifically beer lines – at CBP.

This should help.

A pair of beer stands will open behind sections 210 and 317. Nice. From Philly.com:

Look for the likes of Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald (one of the best porters brewed in America) and 21st Amendment Back in Black.

(Who'da thunk you'd ever see a black IPA at a ballpark?) Also coming: Weyerbacher Harvest, Abita Purple Haze, Lagunitas IPA and more.

Also, don't forget about the Phillies ridiculous lovable rally trolley making its way around Center City tomorrow:

The 33-foot trolley, which will be themed in "With Love, Philadelphia XOXO®" décor, will leave South Philadelphia approximately 11:45 a.m. and travel around City Hall, Rittenhouse Square, LOVE Park, Franklin Square, the Independence Visitor Center, and up Market Street past Campo's Deli.

T-Mac will be along for the ride. As reader Kevin puts it, "that sounds downright awful."

Agree, Kevin. Agree.
