Just on a Car Driving Down the Art Museum Steps

Kyle Scott - October 25, 2013

Credit to HughE Dillon of Philly Chit Chat – the man who is literally anywhere and everywhere in the city on a given night – for this video of a convertible driving down the Art Museum steps at around midnight last night (according to Dillon’s Tweets).

He wrote on Twitter [compiled]: Holy crap a guy just drove his car down the art museum steps and I have the fucking video. I was just driving by and see it. Omg. When he got midway down the steps, he raced back and forth two to three times in that wider area, then he started down the rest of the way. It’s odd how he goes forward, then goes backwards as he goes down the steps. You can really see how he could have rolled on bottom section.

You can see some additional photos on Philly Chit Chat.

There is a 100% chance that this is a GTA V inspired move. There’s not even room for debate. Play that game for too long and you’ll want to go out and test its physics, which, apparently, are quite accurate– the car in the video never flipped, but the driver quickly realized that going backwards presents all sorts of challenges. The scene even featured Colbie Caillat playing on Nonstop Pop FM when the video started. It’s all straight out of your PS 3.

See, this is the negative side effect of video games. Not messed up kids shooting their classmates, because they were going to do that anyway. Stealing school buses and driving down the Art Museum steps, however? Go ahead, blame Rockstar. But this isn’t even that impressive. It really would’ve been something if the driver combined GTA with Rocky and drove straight up the steps and did donuts at the top whilst his friends circled around him and jumped for joy (not recommending that).

As you can see, there are other cars lined up at the top of the steps. We don’t know yet if they drove down as well. There are quite a few kids, some of whom appear to be holding cameras (please be 5ssss with 1080p and 120fps slow-mo), so something tells me more videos will pop up quite soon.

Were you there? Did you take a video? We’d love to talk to you.

Did Michael Vick Test Drive a McLaren Just Hours Before Game Time?

Kyle Scott - September 20, 2013

Uh oh.

Credit to our friend Adam Reigner (@AdamReigner) for unearthing yet another Vick bit. This one: After the Eagles game ended last night, the user HELLAVOXX wrote the following on

Wanna know how Vick spent his afternoon today instead of getting ready??

He was test driving the new Porsche [editor’s note: not Porsche] models. No lie. Took several test drives, hitting 140mph on I-95 a few times. 100% true, my good friend is a sales rep. Sent me a pic of him in the car with Vick.

And it fucking showed on the field.

Does this piss anyone else off as much as it does me???

Sounds fishy, but, upon request, HELLAVOXX uploaded a pic– a screenshot of a friend’s Instagram account.

As you can see, Vick was instantly grammed about 10 hours before 12:10 a.m. (perhaps outside the airport Marriott?), which would put it sometime before 3 p.m. He is sitting in what appears to be a Lamborghini McLaren.

Note the comment:

Lol… kinda hard to get an autograph when your talkin business and when he’s drivin 150mph down 95

Perhaps that’s exaggerated. Please be exaggerated.

[To be fair to Mike– I stole a sports car, sped to the airport, drove onto the runway and hijacked a regional jet in GTA V yesterday… so I can’t throw stones.]

The Instagram account is private, so we only have the screen grab to work off of. But, a few items of note: The user has several online dating accounts under the same handle (he’s down to earth, good-hearted and loves salsa dancing, btw). And though, in theory, the image could be Photoshopped, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The only thing that could be manipulated here is the timestamp, and there are no signs that it was. The Instagram spacing and fonts are correct, and the new IOS 7 status bar is in there.

Vick is a bit of a car buff. He has a site,, “an online car show where you can upload your vehicle, motorcycle, boat or ATV and show [Mike] what you’ve done.”

I’m trying to get in touch with the user… and if he doesn’t respond to my Instagram request soon, I’m going to have to hit him up on OkCupid… and I’d really rather not do that.

Did YOU Spot Andrew Bynum Getting His Ferrari Towed on Saturday?

Kyle Scott - January 24, 2013

The vehicle in question

It all started with this Tweet from reader Sean, who heard from a friend of a friend that Bynum got his car towed this weekend.

Turns out, he did. This calls for a Storify.

Bane? Pic via (@MarisaMagnatta)

This is what the end of an era looks like: Quarterback concussed. Team blaring music to drown out boos. FUCKING CARS ON FIRE!

We don’t know for sure what happened (see updates). But, the above pic of a what is apparently a car on fire in the parking lot outside Lincoln Financial Field was tweeted by WMMR’s Marisa Magnatta. She didn't give any details, and neither did a article, but we do have these Tweets. Take them with a grain of salt, for now:

UPDATE 3: 97.3 ESPN's Ryan Messick spoke with a AAA service guy. He was told it was an Eagles fan's car and was, indeed, accidental.

Bryce Harper’s Customized Mercedes is Customized Exactly How You Would Expect Bryce Harper’s Customized Mercedes to be Customized

I was never, um, good with words…

Not gonna lie, like Cole Hamels, I too would like to see Byrce Harper make the All-Star team as part of the final vote (which ends today). Something about a 19-year-old phenom playing with the best in the world is intriguing to me. Plus, as a baseball fan, the more you see a potential superstar, the better.

But I still think Harper's a douche, and his customized Mercedes-AMG ain't doing him any favors.

In this photo taken by The Nats Blog, we see Harper’s ride complete with tinted windows and tail lights, a curly Nationals’ W (not unlike the one tattooed onto DeSean Jackson’s arm) in place of the Mercedes logo, BAM 34 lettering and, according to The Nats Blog, brakes pad with 34 painted on them.

It's a sweet ride, and much better than Brycecake's monster truck, but some might call that a clown car, bro.

UPDATE: As pointed out by Andrew in the comments, here's the inside:

Here’s Ilya Bryzgalov’s $115,000 BMW Alpina B7

Kyle Scott - March 26, 2012

Screen Shot 2012-03-26 at 1.37.02 PM

What does $51 million get you? A $115,000 BMW Alpina B7.

As I watched Roy Halladay pull away from Bright House Field the other day in his BMW M6 (pic from 2010), I just sort of figured that he had the most expensive BMW for a Philly athlete (roughly $110,000).

Bryz beats him.

Here’s a photo, courtesy of reader (@g81ross), who works in the Manoa Shopping, which is where Bryz was signing autographs at BC Sports yesterday. That there is a BMW Alpina B7. Retail price: 115 humongous big ones. That’s thousands, yo.

Under the hood, Alpina B7 has a 4.4-liter V8 engine, that produces 507 hp with an evil most of 700 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and an electronically narrow top haste of 280 km/h means the car is both immediate and rapidly. High performance pistons were put in place to exchange with the 1.0 bar ceiling turbo boost. Two new large-vane turbochargers have been mounted with an optimized intercooler logic.

I found an old article from Sporting News (October, 2010)* where Bryz talks about having a black 2009 Alpina. So, no upgrade since that mega deal. But who needs one?

*Another bit of tid from the 2010 article on Bryz: "My bucket list: 1. Fly to space."

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Roy Halladay Reporting For Duty… In His 1932 Ford

Kyle Scott - February 18, 2012

Pitchers and catchers officially report tomorrow. But, according to the Twitters, many have already reported and could be seen long-tossing this morning at the Carpenter Complex.

As for Roy Halladay… well, he’s probably already into the back half of his spring training. And, somewhere along the way, he picked up a new ride– a 1932 Ford (Roadster, I believe), according to NBC 10's John Clark, who tweeted the above picture.

I truly can’t imagine a more awesome sight driving around the Gulf Coast except if maybe Cliff Lee took his unicorn to the sunshine state.

UPDATE: Phillies beat reporter Matt Gelb got a picture of Roy leaving the complex…

Two more pics via Lesley Van Arsdall and Casey Kuhn are after the jump.

The Phillies are so Good They Crashed This Guy’s Car

Kyle Scott - August 10, 2011

This summer feels like one gigantic party. I don't even think we watch games to see if the Phillies are going to win, anymore. We just watch to see what kind of awesome is going to spew from the dugout that evening.

Last night, as you know, it was Cliff Lee. Tonight it may very well be Hunter Pence or Chase Utley or Vance Worley or Ryan Howard or John Mayberry Jr… the possibilities, they are endless.

As such, we trade texts and Tweets, IMs and emails about the Phillies' dominance. Sometimes those exchanges lead to violent car crashes: [6 ABC]

Investigators say 39-year-old Claudio Kuhn of Rose Valley was driving his silver Toyota Camry around 1:30 a.m. when he received a text message from a friend stating "The Phillies won."

While reading the message, police say Kuhn took his eyes off the road while going around a curve and lost control.

The car crashed into a 40 foot tree, knocking it down.

The report goes on to say that speed did play a part- not surprising, because those 40 foot-tall trees rarely just go quietly into the night. But hey, at least the transmission delivered good news. Imagine if the text had read Madson blew it

H/T to the folks from (@Philsvilleblog) for passing along
