Tiqod1

We have $200 in free tickets to giveaway courtesy of our friends at TiqIQ– use it for Opening Day, for other Phillies games, for the Flyers, for the Sixers (I'm just kidding– don't use it for the Sixers), or for concerts and other events. The choice, it's yours.

Here’s all you need to do to enter:

RSVP to the home opener (going, not going, watching) with your Facebook login on the Crossing Broad Tickets RSVP page no later than April 3, when we will announce the winner. RSVP here.

That’s it. Looks like this:

If you’re not going, then use the winnings for Opening Day tickets. If you're already going, or can’t go, then use the $200 for something else.

In the meantime, if you can't wait and need Opening Day tickets, some great deals are available starting at around $50. Grab tickets to other Phillies games here (opening weekend seats for as low as $25!)

Phillies Rep Reps Crossing Broad at Local High School

Hearts and minds, ladies and gentlemen. Hearts and fucking minds.

Reader (@AndubC856), a student at Gloucester High School in New Jersey, informed me via the Tweets that the Phillies sent a presenter to the school’s career day today who discussed our friendly little sports blog. Here’s how it happened:

We just had an assembly at our school with Phillies reps talking to us. They asked if anyone checked Crossing Broad daily or just in general. Out of the whole school, my hand was the lone one. I am ashamed, yet proud.  We're having a sort of career day here, and we had Phillies reps come talk to us and one of the presenters was talking about how people cover the Phillies and then she asked about CB. She then told the rest of my school that CB is the best Philly sports blog to follow and she encourages all Phillies fans to check it out.

First off, the students of Gloucester High and I are beefing. WTF, Gloucesterererer? One hand? ONE? You illiterate bastards. Go back to listening to your rap music and playing PS Vita, or whatever it is you kids do nowadays. But not you, (@AndubC856). You can stay.

Second: I see you, Phillies rep, reppin’ CB to impressionable youngsters. Good looks, hunnie. You tell Rube I’m watching him.

Always.

The Last Time I Throw a Baseball on TV

Kyle Scott - April 20, 2012

I was on FOX’s Good Day Philadelphia again today, and this time managed to throw like a girl and miss a target (Jenn Frederick's face) that was about five feet away. My buddy Fran remembers that pitch well, apparently:

What he fails to mention is that I set him up for every one of his 790 goals throughout four years of high school hockey.

Your Brief Wednesday Morning Roundup: Flyers and Sixers Lose, Phillies Opening Day Roster

Kyle Scott - April 4, 2012

– Joe Vitale, who injured Danny Briere on Sunday, he took a puck to the head last night…

– The Flyers, they can’t beat the Rangers, losing 5-3:

The last time the Flyers went without a win in a series of six or more games was the 2006-07 series against Pittsburgh, when they were 0-5-2.  The Flyers hadn’t been swept in regulation in a series of six games or more since the Rangers won all six games between the teams in 1971-72.

Full game highlights are after the jump.

– The Sixers, they can’t beat the Heat, losing 99-93 and Andre Iguodala was poked in the eye.

– The Phillies finalized their Opening Day roster:

Pitchers: Right-handers Joe Blanton, Roy Halladay, David Herndon, Kyle Kendrick, Jonathan Papelbon, Chad Qualls, Michael Stutes and Vance Worley, and left-handers Antonio Bastardo, Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee and Joe Savery.

Catchers: Carlos Ruiz and Brian Schneider.

Infielders: Freddy Galvis, Pete Orr, Placido Polanco, Jimmy Rollins, Jim Thome and Ty Wigginton.

Outfielders: John Mayberry Jr., Laynce Nix, Hunter Pence, Juan Pierre and Shane Victorino.

– Opie and Anthony give Scott Hartnell some love. 3:17:30 mark of the video after the jump Hartnell gets praised scoring goals and annoying the fuck out of opponents.

Reminder: Our Sponsor, Guinness, Wants Your Help in Setting a World Record

Kyle Scott - March 9, 2012

Screen Shot 2012-03-09 at 4.17.19 PM

Hello.

As I told you a few weeks ago, Guinness is one of our new sponsors (yeah, the big beer company) and they want our help – your help - in setting a World Record for largest St. Patrick’s Day Guinness drinking party, like, ever.

I like parties and beer. Also, money. So we’re going to help.

We're asking you to take the Guinness pledge to drink one pint (or more, but drink responsibly) of Guinness on St. Patrick's Day.

Here’s what’s in it for you:

The more people that sign up, the more we get paid. And, on St. Patty's Day, we’re going to pass back half of whatever that payment in the form of tickets to one reader who takes the pledge– the higher the payout, the better the event and seating location (we’re shooting for rinkside seats (2) at a Flyers playoff game). Think of this as a FREE raffle ticket. Oh yeah, and by pledging to drink a Guinness on St. Patty’s Day, you can enter for a chance to win a free trip to Dublin courtesy of Guinness. Not bad.

Here’s all you need to do:

1) Click this link to go to Guinness.com.

2) Hit the big “Join the Party” button

3) Enter your first name, zip code and – very important – CROS as the “optional code.”

That’s it. Takes two seconds to be part of a world record and to up the 50-50 ante. You can also add a few more details to enter to win a trip to Dublin.

As always, thank you for your support and good luck

Contest: We’re Giving Away Two Tickets to Opening Day and it’s Extremely Easy to Enter

Kyle Scott - March 2, 2012

OpeningDayContest_Crossing

You think we don’t take care of you here? Think again.

We’re giving away more FREE shit. How about Opening Day tickets? Done.

Our friends at TiqIQ have another easy-to-enter contest for a chance to win two (2) Opening Day Tickets at CBP. And the more people who enter, the more expensive the seats.

Here’s all you need to do to enter

1) Like both the TiqIQ and Crossing Broad Facebook pages, if you haven’t done so already. Those links open in a new tab or window, so go ahead and click them… I’ll wait….

….

OK, like them? Good. Thanks.

2) On the TiqIQ Facebook page, comment with the following three things:

CROSSING BROAD, [the player who you think will have the highest batting average for the Phillies in Spring Training], [what you think his average will be]

Example: Crossing Broad, Chase Utley, .357

That’s it. You’re entered. We’ll choose a winner between April 1-3. If you can’t wait to find out, or want to get other Phillies tickets in the best locations at the best price, then hop over to Crossing Broad Tickets and browse, you won't be disappointed.

Good luck!

Today is Shane Victorino Day in Hawaii
