Eric Lindros was inducted to the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame last night. Our friends from La Salle’s SportsTalk Philadelphia were there and sent along video of a relaxed (and funny) Big E.

Caption This: Jaromir Jagr and Eric Lindros Speak During Flyers’ Morning Skate in Toronto

Kyle Scott - March 29, 2012

I'm actually trying to get my head around this– Jaromir Jagr, a Flyer, is on the ice in Toronto with a former Flyer who we never thought we'd see again in the Orange and Black, Eric Lindros. – asploding - What's next? A Russian goalie cashing a paycheck from Ed Snider?!?!

Top Ten Philly Sports Moments of 2011: #3 Lindros to LeClair

This is our third annual “Top Ten Philly Sports Moments of the Year.” You can find lists from 2009 and 2010 here and here. We will be rolling out the moments through New Year's Day.

Number three was originally supposed to be the uber cop out Phillies pitching. And while they absolutely deserve praise, it’s hard to pinpoint one facet other than Cliff Lee’s ridiculous June and August months, which came in at number five on our countdown.

We have a last-minute, last-day entrant: Lindros to LeClair.

Ms. CB and I were seated high above the net, in section 431. Watching Lindros streak down the side boards as LeClair entered the top of the slot, it was clear what was about to happen. We had seen it so many times before.

Nearly an entire generation – mostly people who fall between 20-35 – experienced their first taste of successful Flyers hockey with Eighty Eight wearing the C. Whatever your opinion of Lindros was, or is, it was clear from the day he was awarded to the Flyers that the direction of organization would be forever changed.

At times he was a crybaby. At times he appeared lazy. And he was always hurt. But when Lindros was at his best, few were better. That best often always came with John LeClair on his wing.

Yesterday, we got to experience the perfect pairing one final time. It was as if time stood still for the last 15 years– nothing changed… except the 45,000 watching them connect in a ballpark that wasn't even around when they wore the orange and black.

Yesterday, Lou Nolan assured us that all was right with the world: Flyers goal scored by #10 John LeClair. Assisted by #88 Eric Lindros… and #8 Mark Recchi.

The video is after the jump.

Well, this should be fun. Philly continues to open its arms for Eight Eight.

According to a source, Eric Lindros will be working with 97.5 The Fanatic in an on-air capacity leading up to the Winter Classic. No further details given, but Mike Missanelli should be making an announcement today at 3 PM (or later).

UPDATE: Lindros and John LeClair will both be on with Missanelli tomorrow to talk about how they will both be apart of upcoming radio events leading up to the Winter Classic.

Audio: Eric Lindros Confirms He’ll Play in Alumni Game at Winter Classic

Kyle Scott - October 26, 2011

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back – at least – 2/3 of the Legion of Doom.

Eric Lindros told Greg Brady and Jim Lang on Fan 590 in Toronto this morning that he will, in fact, play in the Winter Classic:

"Yeah, Paul Holmgren gave me a shout about a month and a half ago, and we talked back and forth a little bit. I was real happy to hear his voice and to get the invitation and yeah, I told him a while back that I’d fly down and have some fun. I haven’t seen Johnny in a little while. I know they’re trying to get in touch with Mikael, I've been trying myself."

Last week, Lindros told the Hockey Guys that he spoke with Holmgren, but didn’t confirm his intention to play– he saved that announcement for Toronto radio.

Listen to his announcement after the jump. The full interview is here.

Eric Lindros May Play in Alumni Game at Winter Classic

Kyle Scott - October 18, 2011

There’s a chance we’ll get to see the Legion of Doom reunited at Citizens Bank Park this winter.

Our friends from The Hockey Guys and The Hockey Writers had an exclusive interview with Eric Lindros (really, fascinating– must read). In it, he says that Paul Holmgren has indeed spoken with him about returning to play for the Flyers in the alumni game before the Winter Classic:

Q: There have been some rumors going around in Philly that you’ve been invited to play in the Winter Classic Alumni game. Is there any truth to that?

Eric Lindros: I talked with [Flyers GM] Paul Holmgren about a month or five weeks back and we chatted about it. That’d be great if I could see Mikael Renberg again, and Johnny LeClair. I haven’t seen Johnny in a couple of years. That would be a lot of fun. Also possibly we could set up something along the lines where we could do something for CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia), maybe have a lunch or do something along those lines. We could bring in hockey fans and chat a little bit about what we’re up to and sign a bunch of stuff.

Q: So have you made a decision to definitely come down for that or is it still up in the air at this point?

Eric Lindros: I haven’t talked to Paul since we initially spoke a couple of times but it sounds like a great time.

We’re not totally surprised. We heard a few months ago that the Flyers were planning on inviting Eight Eight to participate, something that I believe is the right move. Perhaps now, after a decade filled with mostly failures (love you, 2008), we'll be able to look beyond Lindros' shortcomings and acknowledge how influential he was to younger hockey fans. If you remember, the Flyers had about a three or four-stretch where they weren't good. Lindros' arrival ushered in nearly two decades (still going) of consistent success, and with it, many new, younger fans.

Make sure to read the interview. It is posted both here and here.
