Lane Johnson’s Dog Mask is Completely Out of Stock

Kevin Kinkead - January 15, 2018

“We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”

That’s what you get when you search Amazon for the “novelty Halloween party latex animal dog head mask German Shepherd” that Lane Johnson and Chris Long wore after Saturday’s playoff win.

The masks were going for $10.99 online before selling out. It looks like there are a couple left on Ebay, but this guy sold his entire stock at $35.00:

There are a few other masks floating around on Ebay for $9.99, but they’re not the same as the ones the Birds wore on Saturday. They ship from China and Hong Kong and wouldn’t get to you until late January or early February anyway.

If you do wanna go that route, there are two more of these jawns on Amazon:

Close enough?

Or nah?

By the way, I love the line that says, “fits most adult heads.” And it’s 100% natural latex from Malaysia. And you see through “the dog mask’s the mouth holes.”

Anyway, this is how the American economy works. Item is in demand, item sells out, people who actually have the item mark it up by 400%. If you don’t like it, you can git out:

By the way, you’re more than welcome to wear them on Sunday:

Lucasfilm Requested (Demanded?) That Yoda Wield a Green Lightsaber on Ilya Bryzgalov’s Mask

I talked about the error on Bryz’s mask on the Great Sports Debate last week, and told you about the ensuing correction – from red to green, Yoda’s lightsaber went – this morning. But now we learn that the change was requested by Lucasfilm, George Lucas’s production company responsible for Star Wars, which takes the movie’s expanded universe – and that apparently includes Bryz’s head – very seriously.

Franny Drummond, who paints Bryz’s masks, told CSN’s blog that someone from Lucasfilm contacted the Flyers equipment manager and requested the change to Bryz's new helmet. To be historically accurate, of course.

"We didn't realize we'd be offending anyone," Drummond said. "Yoda's Lightsaber was actually an orange-ish color before we changed it. We were going for a hint of the Flyers' colors in Yoda as well. There were no bad intentions. It was just a matching thing."

Matching thing, it was. Trademark thing, too.

Since his three different masks last season didn’t quite cut it, Ilya Bryzgalov had a new one painted for him this season (you know, if there is a season).

Immediate thoughts? It looks… similar to this one, which he wore for most of last year. Perhaps a little more slick, but similar. Carry on.

Here’s The Mask Sergei Bobrovsky Will Wear Today

So we exerted entirely too much effort on Bryz’s mask, which will likely be seated under a temporary bench this afternoon.

Here’s what Sergei Bobrovsky is wearing. It’s a bit more, um, classic than Bryz’s, and includes Independence Hall, but there’s none of that old-time Philly sports imagery.

Ilya Bryzgalov’s Winter Classic Mask Features Mike Schmidt, Reggie White and Much More

Kyle Scott - December 20, 2011

Dammit, Bryz! I just can’t stay mad at you.

Franny Drummond of Drummond Custom Airbrush, the paint shop that does most of the Flyers’ goalie masks, showed off his working design of Ilya Bryzgalov’s Winter Classic mask to

Bryz told Drummond to feature “Eagles, Flyers, Sixers, Phillies,” and to “go with” whatever he came up with. Which was a spectacular design.

The mask features Mike Schmidt, Reggie White, Julius Erving, Veterans Stadium, an “HK” patch, the Phanatic (who needed to be explained to Bryz), and will soon be finished up with Bobby Clarke, Joe Frazier and Gene Hart’s “Good Night and Good Hockey” tagline.

Here’s another pic:

The video, courtesy of the Flyers, is after the jump. We’ll have some exclusive pictures of the finished product on Friday.

Drummond is also painting an old school mask for Bernie Parent, who will both a new version and his original at the Alumni Game. That video is after the jump, as well.

Andy Reid Shows Off Personality…

Kyle Scott - October 31, 2011

… by wearing the mask of a man with a serious personality disorder.

Andy Reid was rather loquacious after last night’s win (I’ve been playing Words with Friends with Ms. CB), displaying a personality that we haven’t seen since probably when the Eagles beat the Giants last year. He continued his jolly tour today. Here he is with Dave Spadaro, who, well, ah never mind.

The video is here.
