Max Talbot is Apparently Doing a Series of Viral Videos for Assassin’s Creed III

Kyle Scott - October 3, 2012

There are a pair of viral videos featuring Max Talbot circling the intertubes. Last week, one reader (I forget who) sent me one: a video of Talbot seemingly doing a one-finger pushup. The other is Talbot shooting a hockey puck out of the air with a bow and arrow.

I was somewhat skeptical (because of their ridiculousness), and unsure how old they were. So I forgot about them. But over the past few days, I’ve seen more links to the videos on Twitter, and they were picked up by CSN under the headline: Watch Max Talbot Shoot a Puck Out of Midair with a Bow and Arrow.

I guess the Evan Longoria Snags Foul Ball With Bare Hand headline was already taken.

Talbot did not such thing.

As has been pointed out by many online commenters, Original-Gamer.com, CBS Sports, and The Philly Post, the videos are apparently part of an odd guerrilla marketing campaign for Assassin’s Creed III.

Adam Gretz, CBS Sports:

And the original video that features Talbot (wearing the same hooded sweatshirt as in the video above) doing one-finger pushups in front of, conveniently enough, an Assassins Creed banner.

Mike Bertha, The Philly Post:

In the first video, Talbot is seen in a training session (complete with a black hoodie, hood up) in front of an American flag with the Assassin’s Creed logo in it. In the second video, Talbot offers his best Hawkeye impression and shoots a hockey puck out of mid air with a bow and arrow. Again, hoodie, quiver and bow and arrow.

Here’s the thing, though: No one seems to know why Max Talbot, of all people, is doing viral promos for a video game. If you have any insight or theories, I’m all ears, because, as you can probably tell, today seems like it’s going to be a slow news day.

You can watch the videos after the jump.

Jrue Holiday Wants a Silly Contract

Kyle Scott - July 2, 2012

We won’t spend too much time discussing the future of Jrue Holiday, what with Paul Holmgren currently taping piles of cash to carrier pigeons and the Phillies experiencing the End of Days, but a report from Yahoo! (!!!) says that Holiday is seeking a max contract extension (for a player with his lack of experience, that would mean around four-years, $58 million, at the current cap level).

Heh.

Today, Holiday was named to the USA Select Team, the squad that will serve as a punching bag for the Olympic team before they head over to London.

Your Monday (Late)Morning Roundup: Fights, Inquirer and Daily News Sold, Phillies are “Team to Beat”

How’s everyone doing? We OK following that Flyers game yesterday? None of you have a Yinzer tied up in your basement, do you? OK, good– because we may have three more weeks of this.

Ms. CB and I are sick. Again. I was sick two weeks ago, got sick again this weekend, gave it to Ms. CB, and now we both remain home, sick. This time I’ve managed the perfect trifecta of a disastrous head cold, what I think is either Bronchitis or Walking Pneumonia, and Pink Eye. Yep, it’s all topped off with Pink Eye. But that won’t get in the way of your weekend links… even if they are a few hours overdue. Let’s hit it.

But first, a word from our sponsors:

– We’re having 2011-2012 FLYERS QUIZZO next Thursday night at Drinker’s Tavern. Depending on the schedule, it may or may not fall during the first playoff game, in which case we’ll stagger questions during commercial breaks and intermission. Keep an eye out for more details shortly, as well as details about a Phillies game watch at Drinker’s West on Wednesday, April 11.

Brian Dawkins is signing autographs at the BC Sports in the King of Prussia Mall on Sunday, April 29 from 1 – 3 p.m. Details and tickets here.

– Get all of Philly Phaithful’s 2012 baseball t-shirts here, including Cholly-San, an homage to the skipper, and Pissing Excellence, an homage to one Clifton Lee. Shop here.

– We have OPENING DAY Phillies tickets starting at $177 on Crossing Broad Tickets. Sit in the first level for as low as $110.

The roundup:

– Lost in yesterday’s madness was Wayne Simmonds’ face, which scored a goal on Saturday:

Simmonds was named the NHL's first star of the week

Jamie Moyer is a starting pitcher for the Colorado Rockies.

– A story about Jonathan Papelbon jumping off roofs as a child.

– Here's better video of Peter Laviolette grabbing Max Talbot's stick and slamming it over the glass. Talbot was sad:

"He actually took my stick and broke it. I was pretty sad about that. It was a good stick."

– Philly.com has 106 pictures from the opening weekend at Xfinity Live!

– Jimmy Buffett is awesome. He rocked a “Free Sean Payton” t-shirt at a concert this weekend. Payton joined him on-stage to play the bongos during Margaritaville.

– The Redskins are having a D.C. Takeover of their own… they’re taking over a strip club.

Boobs.

– The Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com have been sold today… for a measly $55 million.

– Nike NFL jerseys are being kept hidden in New York.

– Charlie Manuel thinks the Phillies are the "team to beat."

Max Talbot Brought These Two Girls Back to Pat Burrell’s Old Condo on Sunday Night

Kyle Scott - October 4, 2011

Screen Shot 2011-10-04 at 9.47.34 AM

Oh happy day.

We knew Pat Burrell’s old shag pad couldn’t go unoccupied for long. A few months ago, we brought you this real estate listing for Bat’s condo at 1601 Rittenhouse, The Lanesborough. It was listed at $3 million back in August, and while we can’t confirm it was sold, we can safely assume that, after dancing for Bongo Cam at the Phillies game, Max Talbot brought these two girls back to penthouse #1700 at 1601 Rittenhouse Sunday night.

From an anonymous tipster, these are the Facebook statuses of one of the girls. Names are redacted:

Ah yes, the late night trip from Public House to PH 1700, a trail blazed by so many Philadelphia coeds.

Just to be sure this isn’t some other, similar looking luxury condo, we performed a little detective work with the photos. The findings… are after the jump.
