DraftKings Is Running a Second Chance Bracket For The Sweet 16

Kyle Scott - March 25, 2019

Bracket in trash? No worry. DraftKings Sportsbook is running a second-chance bracket for the Sweet 16 open to all New Jersey users.

A second chance bracket

DraftKings is allowing you to build a brand new bracket starting with the regionals of the NCAA Tournament.

Here are all the details for the Super Sweet 16 Bracket :

  • $25k in prizes
  • $2,500 top prize
  • $20 entry fee

New DraftKings users get bet insurance on Sweet 16 games along with a $500 first bet match. You can sign up for DraftKings here .

You have to enter all of your picks by Thursday at 7:09 p.m. before the first Sweet 16 game between Gonzaga and Florida State tips off.

How to play

Simply select the winners from each of the remaining games and fill out your bracket for the rest of the tournament as you would normally.

The second chance bracket challenge is part of the DraftKings Pools section of the app where you are ranked against other players– this most closely simulates daily fantasy.

The contest is only available to those in New Jersey, but there is also a free contest open to all (you can import your picks from the paid contest to the free one).

The DraftKings second chance bracket can only be played on the iOS or Android app for DraftKings Sportsbook.

A new world

This sort of mid-tournament game is the daily fantasy-ization of the bracket challenge. Now all those people with torn up brackets (though probably fewer this year because it’s mostly been chalk that’s won) can start over for as the tournament moves it.

This removes some of the allure of the traditional bracket (think of it as season-long fantasy) and gives you an easy out, hedge, or double down on your original.

This type of contest is sure to be popular even if the prizes are smaller than that of the original offers, which for DraftKings was $64,000.

For more, be sure to check out our Sweet 16 odds and look for our game specific preview for each of the matchups coming this week.

Sweet 16 Odds: Lines From DraftKings and FanDuel

Bob Wankel - March 25, 2019

The first week of the NCAA Tournament and March Madness betting is complete and despite some early-round upsets, chalk held for high seeds across all four regions. Each of the tournament’s No. 1, No. 2,  and No. 3 seeds survived the opening weekend, setting up several high-stakes showdowns between the country’s truly elite teams. NJ sportsbooks are offering fantastic promos for March Madness, bracket contests, aggressive sign-up bonuses, and individual game odds on all of the action. Below, we’ve compiled the live Sweet 16 odds for each game at DraftKings and FanDuel. Why? Because as we’ve already seen several times in this tournament, value matters. Just bang the “Place Bet” buttons to begin and get in on the, ahem, madness.

Villanova Purdue Odds: Line, Prediction and Betting Analysis

Bob Wankel - March 23, 2019

Jay Wright has to like the spot he’s in right now. He’s got two national championships and three straight Big East Tournament titles in his back pocket. His team has won seven straight NCAA Tournament games, and, by the way, it is one win away from a Sweet 16 appearance. Best of all? He gets to sell his squad, one that has experienced an extraordinary amount of success in recent years, on the idea that it’s being both disrespected and counted out. No, teams that win to the degree which Villanova has won over the past three-plus don’t typically get to play this card (unless they’re the Patriots and somehow convince people they’re a feel-good story), but Wright has this luxury given his team enters tonight’s game against No. 3 seed Purdue as a four-point underdog when looking at the Villanova-Purdue odds. Also working in Wright’s favor should he choose to play the disrespect narrative is that his team will be fresh. After playing every game of the 2017-2018 season as the favorite, Villanova has only been an underdog five times this season. They are 4-0-1 against the spread in that situation.

So, can Villanova overcome the odds (feels weird writing that) to earn its eighth-straight tournament win and advance to the Sweet 16? Let’s take a look at all the need-to-know March Madness betting information to consider before locking in your plays on this game.

NCAA Second Round Odds: Lines, Predictions and Analysis For Round 2

Bob Wankel - March 22, 2019

Underdogs were active during Thursday’s Round of 64 games with 10 such teams covering the spread. In fact, at one point late Thursday afternoon, underdogs had either already covered or were covering in every game. Still, despite so many favorites struggling against the number, 12 of 16 higher seeds managed to survive and advance, setting up an intriguing Saturday set of games. If you’re anything like me, filling out a bracket and joining a pool is fun, but loading up on individual games is my favorite way to do March Madness betting. So, let’s look at second round odds at New Jersey sportsbooks and run through some need-to-know information before locking in your picks.

March Madness Predictions, Picks, and Betting Analysis

Bob Wankel - March 19, 2019

Selection Sunday is over, the brackets are set, and now it’s time to make the right picks and predictions for March Madness betting. We have compiled all of the March Madness predictions, picks betting analysis of the lines, spreads, upsets, and more.

Everybody will ask themselves the same set of questions between now and tip-off on Thursday afternoon. Will the one seeds roll? Which team will emerge as this year’s Cinderella squad? There’s going to be upsets, that much we know, but where will they occur? And, finally, can any team stop Zion Williamson and Duke? The answers to these questions will undoubtedly determine the fates of brackets everywhere, so let’s dive into each of the tournament’s four regions in an effort to get some answers and avoid what I call bracket carnage.

For those of you in New Jersey, here’s our list of the best NJ sportsbooks for March Madness: Continue Reading

March Madness has arrived, and with it comes betting. The 2019 NCAA Tournament marks the first time fans will be able to bet on March Madness in New Jersey. Most notably, you’ll be able to bet on the tournament online at over 14 different apps and online sportsbooks. Which are the best? And where can you find the best March Madness promo codes? We got you covered.

Best March Madness betting sites NJ

While there is no shortage of available NJ sports betting sites to bet on, there are a few online sportsbooks that stand out in terms of usability, features, and bonuses for college basketball. These are our favorites.

DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings Sportsbook is the most popular March Madness betting app and for good reason. They offer a clean interface, a range of betting options, and most importantly for March Madness, the DraftKings Bracket Challenge, a free bracket contest with $64,000 in prizes. In addition, you can create your own bracket for friends and family. And then there’s the DraftKings March Madness promonew users will get a $50 risk free bet and a $500 first bet match  when they use our link.

PointsBet NJ

PointsBet NJ is the new kid on the block, but they will be a favorite betting site for the NCAA Tournament thanks to their innovative “points betting” option. In addition to regular spread and moneyline bets, you can also wager on over-under plays and win or lose a multiplier of your bet. This heightens the risk-reward platter and adds a fun element to betting. What’s more, they offer an aggressive $50 free bet with no deposit and two $1,000 risk-free bets to users who use code BROADLINES.

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel Sportsbook may be the best looking of NJ’s March Madness betting apps. It offers a modern and clean interface, and better yet, FanDuel is running a free bracket contest, FanDuel Bracket Madness, which features $250,000 in prizes with $100,000 going to first place. New users also get a $500 risk free bet when they register with our link.

How to bet on March Madness in New Jersey

Betting on college basketball is allowed in New Jersey as long as a New Jersey school isn’t involved, which means the Seton Hall-Wofford game will be off the books as the Villanova-Seton Hall Big East Championship game was. Other than that, the full menu of betting options is availble:

  • spread bets
    • bets on the “spread” or the “line” allow you to wager on whether or not a team will cover the bet
  • moneylines
    • bet on the outright winner of a game
  • over-under
    • bet on whether the total number of points scored will be over or under
  • futures
    • you can bet on which team will win the National Championship, its region, or just make a certain round in the tournament, or which seed will win it all

You only have to be located in the state on either your computer or phone. You do not need to live in New Jersey to bet on March Madness at legal NJ sportsbooks. In fact, you can deposit and see the lines from out-of-state. Geo-location features are used on your phone to locate you (on a computer, you need to download a GPS app).

How much will be bet on March Madness in New Jersey

On Monday, the American Gaming Association estimated that 47 million adults would wager $8.7 billion on the NCAA Tournament in the United States. Half of that total is expected to come on “brackets” while the rest will come as traditional bets at legal sportsbooks or with bookies, meaning 4.9 million people will place a legal sportsbook, many of them in New Jersey
