UPDATE: Chris Pronger’s House (Which He Rents) Appears to be For Sale

Kyle Scott - June 14, 2012

According to Twitter user (@briannawrist), the house Chris Pronger lives in is for sale.

Briana, who says she lives down the street from the Flyers’ captain, tweeted

She was kind enough to go snap a picture for us, which you see above. Here’s the listing of what is confirmed to be his address– $1.5 million and it's yours.

A few weeks ago, some saw a moving van in front of the house, leading to speculation that Pronger was retiring. Or at least moving somewhere.

The Flyers quickly addressed the rumors, with sometimes fibber Paul Holmgren telling that Pronger was going to spend some time with family in St. Louis: []

“There’s no truth to him retiring,” Holmgren said.

Because of an illness in his wife’s family, the Prongers are apparently going to spend some time in St. Louis, Holmgren said.

If him moving means the worst, it's obviously sad to see. There has been no official announcement from the team or Pronger. Nor will there be– a retirement announcement would cost the Flyers a cap hit. That's why Ian Laperriere waited until his contract expired at the end of this season to announce his retirement. And selling a house might not mean anything more than the house is for sale. But we can probably assume that it means more than that.

UPDATE: We're told that the house is owned by former Flyer Jason Smith, who was renting to Pronger. Regardless, Pronger has been living there – that part is confirmed – and now he's not. That's about as much as anyone knows.

These Guys Ordered Pizza to the Mike Schmidt Statue While They Waited in Line for Phillies Tickets Last Night

Phillies single-game tickets went on-sale this morning, not just to Philadelphians, but to the entire world, unlike those fucks in Washington, who are attempting the ticketing equivalent of Mark Wahlberg’s acting career– all bark, no bite… and mostly laughable.

As you might expect, folks who are unaware of the secondary market and platforms like Crossing Broad Tickets – which routinely have regular season seats, for both home and away, available for below face value (plugs!) – and who have gobs of time on their hands, lined up very early to get a crack at tickets. The earliest liner-uppers (word?) were CB reader Robert, who goes by the Twitter handle (@Captinaws0m3)…, and his friends. Mr. Awesome fills us in on his experience… which began at 3 p.m. yesterday:

At 9:30 p.m., we ordered pizza, which we had them deliver to the Mike Schmidt statue. It’s so hard to get food delivered to a street corner, but I'm awesome, so I get things done. During the night we just kinda sat around and talked about all the Philly sports: Flyers, Eagles, Sixers and of course the Phils. Once the sun started to come up so did our energy levels, knowing we were just a few hours away from our tixs. We got opening night and both bobblehead nights. We also do plan on going to BAL. And, forbidden or not, we will be in Washington.

Heh. Why do I have a feeling that every ticketing story this season is going to include a dig at the Washington Nationals?

Congrats, Robert, on your ticket success. For those of you who struck out (yay puns), you know where to go.

Sixers Sale is Virtually Complete

Kyle Scott - July 12, 2011

According to CBS Sports, the sale of the Sixers is just about complete:

Comcast-Spectacor has a deal in place to sell the Philadelphia 76ers to an investor group led by Joshua Harris of Apollo Global Management, LLC, has learned.

There was no immediate word on a sale price, which does not include the Wells Fargo Center or the NHL's Flyers, sources said Tuesday.

David Blitzer of The Blackstone Group will join Harris as lead partner, according to sources familiar with the deal. Former player agent and Sacramento Kings executive Jason Levien also is part of the proposed ownership group, sources said. Apollo, which describes itself on its web site as specializing in "contrarian" investments and "distressed" assets, and Blackstone are not involved in the transaction.

Philly Sports Daily has confirmed that the sale could take place as early as tomorrow.

No sense in stroking this any more than it needs to be stroked (TWSS). Here are our two previous posts on the matter. Nothing new, really.

Not sure how much influence Harris will initially assert, but I'd start by killing Hip Hop. #bringbackbigshot

Sources: A Sale of the Philadelphia 76ers is “Imminent”

Ryan Gillon - June 7, 2011

Referencing ESPN twice in a day is like mortal sin to me, but when news like this comes out of nowhere, I can't bring myself to ignore it.

Henry Abbott of is reporting that according to sources, there are conversations to sell the Philadelphia 76ers and that a deal is "imminent".

Um, I had no idea that the Sixers were for sale, did you?!

If such a deal were to happen, the team would be sold to Joshua Harris, described in this piece as a "New York-based leveraged buyout specialist." Comcast Spectacor has owned the team since 1996, when Spectacor merged with Comcast (thus… the name… not rocket science, people).

This is indeed big news if it does go down, but diehard Sixers fans shouldn't worry too much. It doesn't look like the team will go anywhere in the event of a sale:

Comcast-Spectacor also owns the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, and the Wells Fargo Center where both teams play. The company would continue to own and operate the arena with the Sixers as a tenant, according to sources.

Nothing has been announced or made official as of this writing. Abbott is the only writer reporting this story at the moment. More to come if or when it develops.

Your Thursday Morning Roundup: Miguel Cabrera Drank Scotch in Front of His Arresting Officer Edition

Kyle Scott - February 17, 2011

– Phillies tickets went on sale this morning at 8:30. Reports say that there were some issues with the website, but eventually it sounds like most people got thru. The Phillies said people had been in line since 7 P.M. last night. Presumably, no one else had on that jacket.

Tickets to the April 2nd game, which will likely be Cliff Lee's first start, are sold out. But we got you covered- get tickets starting as low as $58 on Crossing Broad Tickets

We're hosting a tailgate that day. There will be more details on that soon.

Step 1: Buy tickets.

Step 2: Come get drunk with us.

– Miguel Cabrera got arrested for DUI last night in Florida. Probably best to not swig the scotch in front of an officer: [Sun Sentinel complete with happy mugshot]

Cabrera, whose eyes were bloodshot and speech "heavily slurred," was handcuffed and walked towards a patrol vehicle before being told to get in the vehicle.

"Do you know who I am, you don't know anything about my problems," Cabrera is quoted as saying.

A deputy reported Cabrera was put in handcuffs after not following orders. Cabrera also "kept running out in the road with his hands up."

It wasn't even graceful, folks.

Ochocinco isn't happy with Batman… that or this is all a joke:

ochocinco: @terrellowens F_ck yo touchdowns we went 4-12 and now my QB is leaving and they blaming me,you taking 50% of the blame for this sh_t!!!

– And Rich from Hackensack wraps all of your Mets fan stereotypes into one great big phone call:
