Why Are There Not More Pictures of Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell’s Shore Weekend?

HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW: Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell (potentially others, too) spent at least part of the weekend in and around Ocean City and Avalon. Hartnell was spotted on the Ocean City boardwalk hawking his Kickstarter projectThe Naked Cooler.* G, too, was spotted in Ocean City and Avalon.

Typically, the social medias would be flooded with Tweets, ‘grams, pins(?), Vines, etc. etc. But nope. Not this weekend. A thorough search (and believe me, it’s thorough– this is what I do with my free time, ladies and gentlemen) revealed only the smattering of posts and one tip (from a friend!):

Hey Man. Claude giroux siting at boulevard liquors. He bought rolling rock. Heading down to sea isle.

How rude!

But seriously– this is it? Nada? Where are the double-casted beer pong photos and the… double-casted baggo photos? #Hartnelldowns? WERE THEY EVEN TOGETHER? I only have myself to blame. My family has a place just hundreds of yards from where Hartnell was stationed. But G? What, does the Whitebriar not allow smartphones? This shouldn’t be bothering me as much as it is.

Anyway, Hartnell and G were at the Shore this weekend, like a couple of everymen. Someone alert Kelce.

*I liked Hartnell’s cooler, but my buddy made a great observation: “He’s on the media blitz with that– only question: Why would I buy a cooler so I get nailed at the beach with my beer in plain site?” Good point.

Scott Hartnell Has a Kickstarter for a Beer Cooler Named “The Naked Cooler”

This is the most Canadian hockey player thing ever.

Adam Patterson and his partner, Scott Hartnell, of whom you may have heard, posted their Kickstarter campaign for THE NAKED COOLER. It’s a beer cooler, with a window, cup holders, and a customizable configuration. And dare I say… it looks awesome:

They’re calling it the new king of summer, a slogan that would only be made better by getting King Henrik involved, now that his season is over.  As we know, Hartsy and Henrik have a bit of a chirping past.

Hartnell (who made $5 million this season) and Patterson are looking to raise $200k to cover production costs, and plan to ship by next March. They’ve already raised $11,500 in what looks to be under two days. And Hartnell, I’m guessing, is little more than an investor and, um, qualified tester of all things beer and naked.

You can back the project here. $80 gets you a first-run cooler (they will sell for $150), but hurry, those early-bird options are almost gone.

Today in Ridiculous Twitter Photos: Scott Hartnell as Larry Bird and Chooch with a Glove full of Kittens

Not Rajon Rondo.

Scott Hartnell, who has 10 points in nine games (one goal, nine assists) for his new 4-5 Columbus Blue Jackets, asked people on Twitter to guess his Halloween costume. It was Larry Bird, and even with his getup’s reasonable realism, the shorts still aren’t short enough. The shorts are never short enough.

Another topic of discussion during the taping of the new Crossing Streams podcast yesterday was how much the Eagles are killing it on social media and how the Phillies could learn a thing or two from them. This picture (posted for National Cat Day), of Carlos Ruiz holding a bunch of incredibly tiny kittens in a glove, is a start. You can never go wrong with Chooch and Pussies.

Let’s All Bid an Emotional Farewell to Scott Hartnell

What’s that? Oh, no, my contact is just a little dry and it’s bothering my eye, I swear. Plus, it’s allergy season and it’s really doing a number on me this year. No, you’re a liar.

We’ll always have the memories.

Scott Hartnell Thanks Fans

Kyle Scott - June 23, 2014

No word from Hartnell on being shot in the back by Ron Hextall, but he has thanked fans on Instagram and Facebook, and changed his Twitter profile:

Thanks, Hartsy. One of the more bloggable athletes around. Congrats on winning the Cup you’re inevitably going to win.

Scott Hartnell is the Man

Scott Hartnell posted a message to Cy Clark’s family on Facebook today: We are saddened to hear of the passing of Cy Clark (aka Hulk). He was a great sport and a true hockey fan. Our thoughts are with his family today.

Very cool.

Video: Dan Bylsma Said Quite Possibly the Douchiest Thing of All-Time Today

Kyle Scott - April 12, 2014

Dan Bylsma and his glasses, fresh off yet another loss to the Flyers, were asked if they were worried about Kris Letang, who was playing in just his second game after recovering from a stroke. Bylsma’s response was quite possibly the most Penguin thing ever. From Steve Whyno of the Canadian Press:

After the Flyers’ 4-3 overtime win, Bylsma was asked if — even though doctors assured the team and the 26-year-old defenceman that hockey would not put him more at risk for another stroke — he had a little pause seeing Hartnell and Letang shoving each other.

“I did have that thought when that was going on there,” said Bylsma. “(Letang) kind of had the play there and the puck on his skate to try to score a goal. It fell off his stick and the whistle and everything ensued after that. Yeah it does, a guy picking on a guy who had a stroke.”

A team spokeswoman said Bylsma was joking when he made that remark.

Was he joking? You be the judge:

I say no.

Craig Berube responded thusly upon hearing Bylsma’s comment:

Told of Bylsma’s comment regarding Hartnell without the benefit of much context, Flyers coach Craig Berube fired back.

“Then he shouldn’t play,” Berube said. “He shouldn’t be out there playing, bottom line. It’s a stupid comment.”

Totally agree, Craigery. I think we all wish Letang nothing but the best. But. But if you’re playing in a hockey game, you’re playing in a hockey game. To imply that Letang should be treated any differently is just ridiculous.

I wonder if Dan Bylsma displays the same concern for players’ well-being when James Neal tries to end careers?

I Have No Idea Why Scott Hartnell is Carrying His Stick onto the Plane

Kyle Scott - November 14, 2013

Photo: Flyers

I find this the most perplexing picture in quite some time. Why is Scott Hartnell carrying his own stick onto the plane? They… have people that do this for them. Is this a superstition? Budget cutback? Punishment for cutting his hair? Some sort of weird symbol of team bonding that players slum it and carry their own gear? What? I’m so confused.
