Don’t Buy What Terrell Owens Is Selling

Tim Reilly - August 8, 2018

“My favorite quote’s by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” Terrell Owens asserted during his Hall of Fame speech, which he delivered at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. “It says, ‘the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.'”

It was an ironic choice from a wide receiver who, during his stellar career and even in retirement, has seemed most comfortable when he was courting controversy. Owens’ decision to exile himself from the ceremony at Canton in favor of a celebration on the campus of his alma mater was unprecedented. Then again, Owens is a man so accustomed to burning bridges that he probably doesn’t mind living on an island.

A cynic would label the entire spectacle a publicity stunt, one last dash by Owens to seize a rapidly dimming spotlight. But Owens didn’t see it that way. You see, T.O’s quest was righteous, a principled stand against a flawed process. Just ask T.O. –

“There has been a lot of speculation and false reports as to why I chose not to be there. I would like to set the record straight. It’s not because [of] how many times it took for me to be voted into the Hall,” Owens explained, before revealing that his delayed induction was precisely the reason why he skipped the event.

Terrell Owens Will Apparently Be Omitted from the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Kevin Kinkead - July 12, 2018

Terrell Owens isn’t going to Canton next month to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Instead, the ex-Eagle recently revealed that he’ll hold his own ceremony on the campus of his alma mater, UT-Chattanooga.

So the Hall will simply omit Owens entirely from the August program, as explained by executive director Joe Horrigan in a story published by TalkOfFameNetwork.com:

Owens will not be introduced for Friday night’s Gold Jacket ceremony, nor will he be announced the following night at Canton’s annual induction ceremony.

“The focus,” Horrigan said, “is on the guys who are here.”

Makes sense, I think.

Terrell Owens is Holding His Own Hall of Fame Induction

Kevin Kinkead - July 3, 2018

Never one to be dramatic or controversial, Terrell Owens revealed a while back that wouldn’t participate in the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in Canton next month.

Instead, he’ll do it his own way, announcing today that he’ll give a speech at UT-Chattanooga, his alma mater, on August 4th:

I didn’t get the 3:17 p.m. thing when I read this, but “Coach Culler” apparently has an explanation here:

Oh Cool, We’re Asking T.O. About Sam Bradford Now

Jim Adair - May 5, 2016

You’re right TMZ, this is a bad look.

Notorious for his maturity and level-headedness, Terrell Owens wants you to know that he thinks Sam Bradford is being a coward. “I think it was not a great move for Sam to want to request a trade being that they were getting a #1 pick,” T.O. said, getting the only important fact wrong. “If it were me … that’s kind of a sign of a coward, to be honest.”

He’s right, Bradford is being cowardly. Not “say you’re going to hold out because you want more money, be the center of a media circus, and then show up with such a bad attitude you get suspended by the coach” cowardly, but sure, cowardly.

Reuben Frank and T.O. Argued Over T.O.’s Legacy on Twitter

Last night on Twitter, Reuben Frank and T.O. got into it a little bit on Twitter. It makes sense. Neither man is really too busy during these cold winter months, but Roob still seems like he got a little too fired up (I can just hear him yelling “It could have been you, TO. It should have been you” with tears in his eyes). T.O. just laughs it off, but Roob doesn’t let that slide. He probably just looked at how long it’s been since anything of importance has happend with the Eagles and decided “No, T.O., this is not okay.” Really, they’re both just being dumb.

And this has been TV personalities get in pointless Twitter fights with retired athletes.
