Phillies Release Dontrelle Willis

Dontrelle Willis
It was a short stay in Philadelphia (or Clearwater) for Dontrelle Willis.

The D-Train signed a one-year deal back in December, with the hopes that he could be an addition to the bullpen. He hasn't had a great spring, and well, that's the end of the Willis era in Philly.

  1. Thought this could be a Jagr-esque type pick up, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Oh well, life moves on.

Too bad, he was the best hitter we brought in this offseason. I was hoping he would bat 4th.

  5. Sadly, no big loss. At least the Phils did Willis a favor by cutting him early instead of letting him collect dust while other teams set their pitching staffs. That way, he still has at least a puncher’s chance of latching on someplace else.
