Live Stream: Update on Darren Daulton

The doctor who operated on Darren Daulton today spoke with the media this afternoon. He was able to remove BOTH tumors. One was more difficult to attend to because it was near Dutch’s speech portion of the brain. As such, he was numbed but awake during surgery so doctors could make sure not to damage parts of the brain were tied to speech and communication. They even asked Dutch sports questions while they operated to make sure his cognitive abilities remained.

It will take Dutch 3-4 weeks to recover from surgery, but he will likely need radiation therapy to prevent the tumors from growing back. He will also need speech therapy.

Dutch is currently alert and talking with friends and family. Good news.

It’s terrific that Dutch made it through the surgery, I’m certainly glad to read about that. I’ll be thinking of him and hope he pulls through.

  3. God bless Dutch. Love that dude

  4. He only has a year to live. The tumor is has is stage 4, and its the fastest growing tumor out there. The tumors will be back in about 3 months. My uncle had the same thing, they said the same thing they are saying about Daulton. It sucks, but his time will be short
