Video: Flyers Ice Crew Slingshotted a Young Girl 175 Feet into Padded Dasher Last Night

Voila_Capture216Email from reader Eric:

I was at the Flyers vs Canucks game last night and witnessed an amazing sight. I’m guessing you have already seen this but the ice crew takes a giant sling shot and fires 2 lucky fans at about 20 mph into a couple of giant bowling pins at the other end of the rink. No big deal but last night they had a girl who was about 10 – 12 range who couldn’t have weighed more than 90 pounds. Ice crew pulled her back to normal adult distance and then it happened. They let go and this girl got about 2 feet before her hands broke free and she face planted from hashmarks to the blueline, sled still sliding down the ice. I was wondering if any readers have video of this? Poor old man Snider probably sent Hartnell and Vinny down to her seats with a truck full of free stuff to avoid any legal trouble.

Why yes, Eric, someone does have video of this. That would be reader Mike. Here you go:

Dancing Shawny tells us the girl was fine and went again. Humongous big lawsuit avoided.

UPDATE: Another video:

Is there a bigger tool than “Dancin’ Shawny”?

Answer: No. Well, maybe Kyle….BURN, SON!

  2. This is only the last one… The first try was the money shot, I want someone to have that, I’m so sad I didn’t record it. The little girl is definitely concussed today

  3. little girl ate shit. im sure they have to sign a waiver before they do this or it will be called off soon due to someone getting a concussion or dislocating a limb crashing into the wall the wrong way. either way its hilarious, I hope I see it at every game, and I want to do it.

dancy shawny has lost his luster since losing all those lbs

  5. even leading up to the initial launch, you could hear the crowd groaning in disbelief……and then that poor girl ate shit all over the ice.

seems like an idea from an intern fresh out of an institution of higher learning. this is shit you do in college….. in the snow….. blacked out.

  6. lol that’s too funny! I used to work at a minor league hockey team and we did the exact same promo between periods. All participants have to sign a release, so even if she did get hurt, her family would have no case since they signed the release. It really doesn’t hurt when you hit the boards though :-)

  7. smh…

  8. this is the right video to use

  9. If the Sixers did anything like this you would rip them a new one for this but since its your beloved flyers they get a pass. Also they lost…AGAIN last night making them the worst team in the NHL….a feat not even the Sixers will get to this year. You get such a big boner from hockey though so this too gets a free pass….smh.

Sixers do this shit on their own, they don’t need a halftime show for it. Sixers are shit and have been for over 10 years. No one cares because the sport is awful, the only reason they draw ratings is because ESPN promotes the shit out of it.

    • Tied for worst with the Rangers. Get right you knob.

  10. This is the highlight real of the Flyers season so far. We should crank that slingshot up a bit and throw Homer in blindfolded maybe use that crack team of scouts we have as the pins. It’s come to this…BRING BACK JVR, sure he was soft, disappeared sometimes and had a giant mole on his face but at least he isn’t Couturier wandering around covering nobody down low or simply being useless in the offensive zone. I have no doubt Chris “Bundy” Therien could beat Grossman and Schenn between the blues and Therien has gained 233 pounds since retiring.

  11. they do this at every game

  12. That is my neice, she is fine. My sister did it as well. After her mother did it Abby, (the little girl) got up and did it again.

  13. First saw this at an NCAA D-1 club hockey tourney in March 2000 at Minot St. in North Dakota. Good to see the the Flyers are so bad that their (even worse?) marketing department is resorting to college club hockey-level stunts for in-game entertainment…
