Let’s hit it!

But first, a word from our sponsors:

The roundup:

Coach of the year Dave Hakstol, who has the highest odds as the next coach to get fired, benched superstar Andrew MacDonald last night, and lo and behold, Shayne Gostisbehere recorded three assists as the dreadful Flyers, who haven’t scored more than three goals in a game in their last 15 games, won, 3-2:

Gostisbehere had two primary assists among his three helpers. He scored as many points as he had in his previous 14 games combined.

“I’m not trying to put too much pressure on myself,” said Gostisbehere, who has not scored in his last 32 games. “I’m just going out there and playing my game and doing whatever it takes to help my team.”

The Flyers won for the first time in nine games (1-6-2) in Western Canada over the last three seasons.

“It’s something to build off of,” Simmonds said.

I can’t wait for the annual Flyers finish-strong-and-surge-into-the-playoffs-only-to-get-splashed-with-a-cold-dose-of-reality storyline.

Great(?) story about the insane heroin epidemic along the train tracks in Kensington. Come for the pictures that show something which looks like it belongs as a framing device in a binge-able show.

Jayson Werth’s $126 million contract was, actually, a good deal for the Nationals. Fml.

DeMarucs Cousins and his manager had no idea where to take the private jet when leaving New Orleans after Cousins… was traded to New Orleans:

Might I suggest… staying there?

The National Champions are looking for a home next season while the Pavilion gets renovated:

Wildcats coach Jay Wright is hoping, however, that his team doesn’t miss a beat, and can get as many home games as possible scheduled next season at the Wells Fargo Center.

Wright said other options to host games include the Palestra, the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, and the PPL Center in Allentown. But he added, “Hopefully, we can get them all at the Wells Fargo.”

“We’re fortunate in that we’re used to playing at the Wells Fargo Center and we’re comfortable,” he said. “We have our routine, so I think we’ll get used to that real quick. It’s not like somebody else that would have to play on a court that they’ve never played on.”

I secretely love the fact that Jay wants to play them all at the Wells Fargo Center and not the Palestra. Phil Martelli must be rolling over in the sarcophagus that doubles as his bed upon learning that a Philly coach, if given the opportunity, doesn’t want to play his homes games in the mecca that is the Palestra. Fact is, Villanova can nearly fill the Wells Fargo Center and will need a building that large to satisfy demand to see the back-to-back National Champions next season.

A dossier on Donald Trump’s psychological makeup is being prepared for Vladimir Putin. Dossier in the early lead for word of the year.

The Flyers Alumni played in Red Square today, but they told me that Putin did not wind up playing in the 12-on-12(!) game on a comically large rink:

In Soviet Russia, score keep you!

Speaking of bad rink experiences, kids in Wilmington got sick after a Zamboni leaked carbon monoxide:

The mother of a boy who played hockey at the rink told NBC10 her son along with eight other 13-year-old boys were sickened during the leak and started to vomit.

“The kids just started dropping like flies and they were going behind the bench and vomiting in trash cans,” said Gary Rogers, a parent of one of the players.

They players were so sick they could barely skate off the ice.

This happened to my cousin when he was playing in college and he was pretty messed up from it for a while.
